Samsung One UI 4.0: Features
Based on Android 12, the One UI 4.0 delivers even more personal, safe and effortless experiences on your device. Featuring a totally reimagined interface just for you, new privacy features that are designed for your safety and put you in control, and more seamless ways to get right to your gameplay or even switch to a new device.
Personalization – Starting with Android 12 on Pixel devices, you’ll be able to completely personalize your phone with a custom color palette and redesigned widgets. Using what we call color extraction, you choose your wallpaper and the system automatically determines which colors are dominant, which ones are complementary and which ones just look great. It then applies those colors across the entire OS: the notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets and much more.
Fluid motion and animations – From the moment you pick up an Android 12 device, you’ll feel how it comes alive with every tap, swipe and scroll. Your phone quickly responds to your touch with smooth motion and animations.
We’ve also simplified interactions and recrafted the entire underlying system to make your experience more fluid and efficient. Your Android devices are now faster and more responsive with better power efficiency so you can use your device for longer without a charge.
This was achieved by some under-the-hood improvements including reducing the CPU time needed for core system services by up to 22% and reducing the use of big cores by the system server by up to 15%.
Redesigned system spaces – Some of the most important spaces on your phone — like your notification shade, quick settings and even the power button — have been purposefully reimagined to help you get things done.
The notification shade is more intuitive and playful, with a crisp, at-a-glance view of your app notifications, whatever you’re currently listening to or watching, and Quick Settings that let you control practically the entire operating system with a swipe and a tap.
The Quick Settings space doesn’t just look and feel different. It’s been rebuilt to include Google Pay and Home Controls, while still allowing for customization so you can have everything you need most in one easy-to-access place.
To make sure you always have help from Google at your fingertips, you can now long press the power button to invoke Assistant to make a phone call, open apps, ask questions or read aloud text-heavy articles.
Private and secure by design – Android 12 includes new features that give you more transparency around which apps are accessing your data, and more controls so you can make informed choices about how much private information your apps can access.
The new Privacy Dashboard offers a single view into your permissions settings as well as what data is being accessed, how often and by which apps. It also lets you easily revoke app permissions right from the dashboard.
We’ve added a new indicator to the top right of your status bar so you know when your apps are accessing your microphone or camera. And if you want to remove app access to these sensors for the entire system, we’ve added two new toggles in Quick Settings.
We’re also giving you more control over how much information you share with apps. With new approximate location permissions, apps can be limited to seeing just your approximate location instead of a precise one. For example, weather apps don’t need your precise location to offer an accurate forecast.

Samsung Galaxy A71 smartphone users are eagerly waiting the get a taste of the novelties of Android 12 and One UI 4.0. While the device is scheduled to get the major software update in near future, Checkfirm spotted the build that hints at its early arrival.
According to the information, One UI test build detection app – Checkfirm spotted a new One UI update build that had been tested on the Galaxy A71. The origin of the new software is Russia as SER is the CSC code of Samsung Russia.
— Samsung One UI Updates (@SamsungUpdatess) January 20, 2022
As you can see in the screenshots above, a new One UI update firmware has been tested on the Galaxy A71 LTE bearing PDA build number – A715FXXU8CVA5. However, we don’t know the exact release timeline of Galaxy A71’s Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update, it will happen sometime next month.
One UI 4 Features: Samsung’s Android 12 update brings a number of new features including a modified user interface with renewed icons and Material You theming system. In addition, the One UI 4.0 also improves all of the stock apps, adds more lock screen widgets, quick settings toggles to turn off the camera and mic access and more.
Back in February 2020, the Korean tech giant introduced the Galaxy A71, as the most expensive Galaxy A series smartphone. Besides the promise for three generations of Android OS update support, this device features several powerful capabilities that impressively fascinated consumers.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A71 handset pre-equipped with an Android 10-based One UI 2.x software system. In early 2021, the company provided the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update to this popular mid-range phone, and it’s now waiting for Android 12 features with One UI 4.0.
Here’s what Samsung rep. replied
“We would like to inform you that Galaxy A71 will get Android 12 with One UI 4.0 on month of April 2022, however, our team is already working on the same to provide you update as soon as possible, so we request you to please be patient till any further notification.”
One UI 4.0 RAM Plus lets Samsung phones increase RAM using internal storage
The One UI 4.0 is Samsung’s latest skin created for Galaxy devices using Google’s Android 12 operating system, which brings improvements to a lot of system services as well as applications in addition to introducing new features and noticeable UI tweaks such as the RAM Plus.
RAM Plus, which was initially introduced with the Galaxy A52s 5G smartphone, is also one of the best novelties of the One UI 4.0. While the RAM Plus feature is not an exclusive feature of Samsung’s Android 12 update, it’s also available on low-end Galaxies, even on One UI 3.1.
Samsung RAM Plus
Using RAM Plus, consumers can allow their Samsung smartphone to use its internal storage in order to increase the RAM, making it virtual. However, the extended RAM is limited to 4GB as of now, while this function is expected to be further improved with the One UI 4.1.
An important thing to be noted is that the virtually increased RAM by RAM Plus feature aims to improve the performance of applications for a better user experience. However, the extended RAM is not capable of incrementing the system’s performance.
Still, the Samsung’s RAM Plus is an interesting yet useful feature for Galaxy devices and software from different categories including One UI 4.0. Though, when enabled, you can significantly boost the performance of your phone having low-end hardware capabilities.
Here’s how to check RAM Plus availability
If the RAM Plus feature is available on your Samsung phone, you don’t need to manually enable it, as the function features limited options as of now. In case of ensuring the availability of the RAM Plus feature on your Samsung device, follow the steps given below.
- Firstly, open your phone’s Settings
- Now, head to Device care menu
- Once opened, tap on the Memory sub-menu
- If available, you will see the third option of RAM Plus
