One UI 4.0 adds advanced customization capabilities and privacy controls

Published

on

Samsung’s One UI user interface brings an integrated mobile experience to Galaxy smartphones with simpler and easier interaction and clean and elegant design. And, the One UI 4 beta participants will be able to experience customizable capabilities and privacy controls that give them the ability to design their best mobile experience – the one that best suits their individual needs and allows them to express themselves.

With a One UI 4, users get customization options all the time. The wealth of themes options allow users to customize the appearance and performance of their device, providing them with tools to customize their home screens, icons, notifications, wallpapers and much more. However, here, we are discussing the Device Care and Privacy feature of the device in One UI 4.0.

Samsung One UI 4.0 Device Care

Battery issues are a major reason to look at the Device Care menu, now it has an intuitive interface to help you quickly diagnose issues with your phone. The primary screen now highlights both battery life and safety issues. The complete status of the phone is now displayed as emoji, instead of just green points, making it easy to determine how things are going at a glance.

If you see any problems with your device, you can go directly to the Samsung Members check-up from Device Care. Try the diagnostic tests to find out what the problem is and get suggestions for solving it.

The option to protect your battery by limiting the charging to 85% now appears in the Device Care menu. This option has been added to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, introduced with One UI 3.1.1, so it makes sense to see it in One UI 4 for other devices.

Samsung One UI 4.0 Privacy Feature

Some of the most significant improvements in the One UI 4 focus on privacy. The new Permission Usage History menu allows you to view all permissions used by each application over time. You can easily disable the camera, location, and microphone permissions directly within the menu.

Now you get pop-ups in all apps asking if you want to get notifications. This may be a little annoying, but it’s better than turning on notifications or turning off all apps automatically.

When you talk about pop-ups, you will also get one each time the app asks to use your location. You can choose between the exact location or the approximate location of each application. For apps that only need to know your general location, such as weather apps, you can allow access to your location so they can determine your exact location.

A green dot will now appear in the upper-hand corner of the screen when the app uses the camera or microphone to see if the app is recording without your permission. You can also use the quick settings controls to temporarily block all applications from using the camera or microphone.

When you copy and paste sensitive information such as credit cards, you can now be notified if any application accesses the information stored on your clipboard. It seems that privacy has been a major issue for Google in its Android 12 update, which is why we are seeing these great new privacy features extend to Samsung’s One UI 4 software.
