Samsung Galaxy S21 FE to use LG’s 4500mAh battery
As Samsung is the leading smartphone brand across the world and launches dozens of Galaxy devices such as mobile phones and tablets, and it is going to introduce this year’s Fan Edition smartphone in the near future. We’ve already encountered a number of leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S21 FE, and more info has arrived from S. Korea.
According to TheElec, the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE will be equipped with a 4500mAh battery supplied by its major rival LG. The report further suggests that LG is manufacturing the cell of S21 FE’s battery at its Nanjing plant in China. And ITM Semiconductor tied to receive and pack the battery cells from LG at its factory in Vietnam.
Last month, LG officially announced that it is leaving the smartphone market in order to focus on innovations in other tech fields such as home appliances, and robotics, but it still remains in the game and will continue to supply components to other smartphone makers.
It’s worth mentioning that LG Energy Solutions has supplied battery cells for Samsung’s Galaxy A and M series devices years ago. Later on, it has also produced batteries for the Galaxy S10 and components for Galaxy Note 10 series flagships.
In order to reduce the device’s cost, Samsung might be taken this decision to use batteries from LG Energy Solution. Adding to this, the company reportedly plans to use ATL batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2/3, which will be launched together with the Galaxy S21 FE.

LG Innotek is supplying CoF for budget and mid-range Samsung smartphones this year. Despite the CoF supply chain formed by the Korean govt., Stemco still has the upper hand in overall volume and model-specific volume in the Samsung CoF market.
TheElec notes that LG Innotek is not making progress in Samsung smartphones’ CoF (chip-on-film) market. Back in 2021, Korean govt formed a local CoF supply chain, but Japan’s Stemco still has an edge over LG Innotek in the Samsung smartphone CoF market.
As of 2024, LG Innotek and PI Advanced Materials are still supplying CoF and related materials for Samsung’s affordable phones like the Galaxy A5 series. Pay attention, the lower lineup of the Galaxy A series and Galaxy M series uses the CoG method, mounting chips on glass substrates.
LG Innotek’s CoF production line operation rate is expected to reach around 70% this year. Beyond Samsung, LG Innotek supplies smartphone CoFs to Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Notably, G Innotek’s revenue was 20.6 trillion won last year.

Benchmark listing confirms Samsung will fuel the US Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a Snapdragon chipset. The device has benchmarked on Geekbench, scoring sizing points in single-core and multi-core tests. Interestingly, the Flip phone features 12GB of RAM, which is a big upgrade.
As spotted by CID/X, the US variant of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 will feature up to 12GB RAM and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. While the listing doesn’t mention the phone’s marketing name, Samsung’s modeling strategy says SM-F741U is the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Earlier, the same product surfaced on Geekbench’s graphics processing unit test. The device reached the same performance as the Galaxy S24 Ultra despite lacking such larger cooling tech. As far as the CPU performance is concerned, the Z Flip 6 scored:

- 4486 in multi-core

Samsung is expected to hold its next Unpacked event in Paris right before the 2024 Olympics kicks off. The tentative date is July 10, when the company will introduce Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold 6 Ultra. More products including the Watch 7 series and Galaxy Ring are expected.
As the company still has around two months to unveil, there will be further performance improvements. Global consumers might be disappointed as the Exynos is expected to power some units. It might harm some sales but Samsung has to do it to maintain the cost-cutting.

Another report says Apple will begin mass production of its first foldable iPhone in late 2026. It indicates that the company is preparing to introduce the foldable iPhone by 2026. Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to launch the sixth-generation foldable products in July this year.
Despite facing challenges in China, Samsung is leading the global foldable market. Meanwhile, Apple’s entry into the foldable market would hurt Samsung the most. The competition is getting fierce and its peak could be seen when the first foldable iPhone lands in the market.
9to5Mac reports that Apple is set to commence mass production of a foldable iPhone in late 2026. The report also states that the company will likely begin mass production of a 20.3-inch foldable device later next year. Previously, this device is slated to launch in 2026 or 2027.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously revealed that the company could launch a 20.3-inch MacBook with a foldable display in 2027. Display supply chain insider Ross Young also highlighted Apple’s development of a 20-inch foldable hybrid device, set for a 2026 or 2027 release.
Trusted source Mark Gurman also said that Apple is “exploring a dual-screen, foldable MacBook/iPad hybrid.” However, the latest report suggests that Apple has “accelerated” its work on foldable devices, with the supply chain showing “increasing visibility.”
It is to be added that foldable devices would introduce a “new line-up for Apple” focused on the “ultra-high-end market.” Apart from a 20.3-inch “foldable device,” the company is exploring 7.9-inches and 8.3-inches screen sizes for a foldable iPhone.
