Samsung HBM3E Nvidia approval

Samsung formed a team for a billions-of-dollars HBM supply deal with Nvidia. The company is putting efforts into winning the contract from the global artificial intelligence semiconductor giant to beat the HBM market leader SK Hynix.

According to KEDGlobal, Samsung made a task force to finalize its HBM deal with Nvidia. The team comprises about 100 excellent engineers, who have been working to improve manufacturing yields and quality with the first aim to pass Nvidia’s tests.

“Samsung aims to log a high market share by quickly increasing supply to Nvidia,” said one of the sources. “It is expected to speed up the supply from the third quarter.”

Previously, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang asked Samsung Elec to increase the yields and quality of 8-layer and 12-layer HBM3E chips for supply. It’s worth noting that HBM3E is the world’s best-performing DRAM chip for AI applications.

The South Korean tech giant has been focussing on the 36Gb 12-layer HBM3E model. Samsung finished the development of HBM3E in February 2024 and aiming to pass the quality test conducted by Nvidia this month.

To meet Nvidia’s demand, the company has secured production lines already to increase output. The 12-layer HBM3E improves AI learning speed by 34% on average compared to the 8-layer product.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 screen broke within a day, is this widespread?

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

The inner screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 allegedly broke within a day. SamSWUpdate on X posted an image of the alleged Z Fold 6 smartphone. The handset’s main/inner screen is no longer functional signaling a manufacturing problem.

As shown in the image, the left part of the inner screen has broken. A green screen overlay appeared on the half portion of the foldable panel. It seems to be an OLED flaw, rendering Samsung’s most premium smartphone useless.

While detailed information regarding the incident is not available, we expect the consumer to get the unit replaced FOC. The fault may have appeared because of the initial production unit, as it usually happens in Samsung’s case, even though we had a similar experience with Fold 4.

Thanks to the purchase policy, Samsung would provide a replacement to the affected consumer. The incident would have ruined the consumer’s experience but it wouldn’t have been disastrous if the unit got damaged due to a manufacturing defect.

Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 on July 10 in Paris. The company has also announced the Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable phone, Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7, Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, and Galaxy Ring.

The company confirmed general availability to begin on July 24. However, shipment of pre-order units is already underway in select markets. Today is the last day for pre-orders, which is advantageous for potential buyers in many ways.

Samsung issues crucial Galaxy Ring advisory on magnets, weightlifting

Published

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Ahead of the Galaxy Ring release, Samsung issued a crucial warning regarding magnets and weightlifting. The company says users should avoid wearing Galaxy Ring during weightlifting and keep away from magnets.

Weightlifting might damage the Galaxy Ring due to heavy pressure. On the flip side, the near presence of magnets might shake the health indicators. As a result, the health data might be shuffled so you should avoid wearing the Ring when the magnet is nearby.

Rings made of metal get damaged if an extra heavy pressure occurs. It generally happens while you are at the gym for exercise or lifting heavy weights. Concerns may appear in the future and Samsung’s warning comes at the right time to avoid damages.

Samsung’s support page mentions users are advised to avoid exposing the Galaxy Ring to magnets. Magnetic interference can disrupt important features like step counting, potentially leading to inaccuracies.

Users are also advised to remove the Galaxy Ring weightlifting and other activities involving machinery. Wearing the ring during strenuous activities could result in hand injuries, as the ring might get caught or damaged under intense physical strain.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Ring on July 10 in Paris. The company is set to release the new wearable on July 24 in over 100 countries. Pre-order promo is currently underway in many markets internationally.

If you are interested in buying Galaxy Ring, Samsung has a pretty cool experience for you. No need to worry about sizing as the company is offering a sizing kit delivered before the product. You can determine the suitable size and then place the Ring order.

The Galaxy Ring is available in 9 different sizes. The largest size features longer battery life, a plus point for buyers who prefer bigger sizes. Pre-order your Galaxy Ring and avail exciting discounts and cashback from Samsung.
