Instead of Snapdragon 888 Plus, Samsung is going to ship its upcoming foldable flagship smartphone with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. However, the company has not yet unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, a reliable source recently revealed the performance of the former foldable.

According to Samsung insider IceUniverse, the Snapdragon 888-powered Galaxy Z Fold 3 has less heat in daily games. Moreover, the device reportedly features a much stronger performance than the Galaxy S21 Ultra flagship as well as longer battery life.

Earlier this year, Samsung debuted Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset with its Galaxy S21 series smartphones. However, it’s a flagship processor, but some users reported having critical heating issues in some cases such as gaming.

It looks like Samsung has impressively optimized the Snapdragon 888 chip with the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s software system, following the feedback of Galaxy S21 series consumers. At the same time, the arrival of the S Pen for the foldable phone will also be benefitting Samsung to gain its sales.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 to cost 20% lesser

Recently, a South Korean media outlet revealed the expected starting price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 i.e. 1.99 million won ($1,744). Compared to the 2.39 million won Galaxy Z Fold 2, its successor will cost around 17% lesser.

Last but not least, the company has not confirmed the arrival of its foldable phone lineup, while an official announcement could be done later this month. Though, it’s almost confirmed that several Galaxy products including Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 will introduce on August 11.

Samsung Galaxy S25 series to support Seamless Updates

Published

on

Seamless Updates is a long-due feature on Samsung, which could finally arrive with the Galaxy S25 series next year. The company is reportedly considering Seamless Updates support for its next-generation Galaxy S lineup.

Tipster ChunBhai claims that the Galaxy S25 series supports A/B (seamless) updates. Samsung’s Galaxy A55 5G also features A/B partition updates functionality. However, it hasn’t yet arrived on any flagship Galaxy device to date.

Notably, Seamless Updates require hardware-level setup. This means older Galaxy devices will still miss out on the advanced update installation method. If it debuts on the S25 series, future models may continue to feature Seamless Updates.

Google debuted A/B Partition a.k.a. Seamless Updates with Android 10. Virtual A/B updates have replaced Legacy A/B system updates in Android 10. Samsung has been refraining from bringing it to Galaxy flagships despite consumer demand.

Seamless Updates feature is 10x more beneficial than the conventional method. Users can continue to use their devices during an OTA. The only downtime during an update is when the device reboots into the updated disk partition.

Google Pixel phones install update while letting user continue using the phone. When the entire setup finishes, you just need to restart the device to install the new OTA. It takes 10 to 15 seconds to restart the phone and get the latest OTA installed.

Apart from reducing downtime, Seamless Updates also secure your device from software malfunctions. If an OTA fails to apply, the user will not be affected. The user will continue to run the old OS, and the user is free to re-attempt the update.
