Samsung Galaxy S22 could have the most powerful Snapdragon processor ever made

Later last year, Qualcomm announced its latest flagship chip, Snapdragon 888, which powers around all the 2021’s premium smartphones including the US and Chinese variants of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. However, it is too early to talk about the next year’s Galaxy S22 flagships, but it is confirmed to feature Qualcomm’s next-gen chip.
Meanwhile, some information regarding the next Snapdragon flagship chipset has appeared on the web, courtesy of Evan Blass (via @evleaks). According to the info, Qualcomm’s next premium processor carries model number SM8450 and it will be built on a 4nm process, most probably made by Samsung.
Furthermore, it features ARM v9 architecture-based Kryo 780 CPU, Adreno 730 GPU for graphics processing, and could be compatible with quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM. Besides, it also equips Adreno 1195 DPU for operating the phone’s display and Adreno 665 VPU for processing videos.
For processing images and videos using the camera, it could have the Spectra 680 ISP. When it comes to connectivity, the next Snapdragon tipped to feature Snapdragon X65 5G modem and the FastConnect 6900 sub-system for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and aptX.
Apart from this, Qualcomm’s upcoming high-end chipset is expected to highlight one Cortex-X2-based CPU core, three Cortex-A710-based CPU cores, and four Cortex-A510-based CPU cores. Having such powerful CPU and GPU capabilities, this processor will offer massive performance.

Samsung may launch Galaxy S25 FE with One UI 8 later this year

Samsung is reportedly working on the Galaxy S25 FE, the fifth model of the S25 lineup. The company is expected to introduce this new Fan Edition smartphone with Android 16-based One UI 8 later this year.
According to GalaxyClub, Samsung is working on the Galaxy S25 FE with model number SM-S731B. It was recently discovered that the company has assigned the R13 codename for internal usage to the Fan Edition of the S25 series.
- SM-S711B: Galaxy S23 FE (official)
- SM-S721B: Galaxy S23 FE (official)
- SM-S731B: Galaxy S25 FE (expected)
Samsung released the Galaxy S24 FE in late 2024 with notable upgrades. The smartphone offers improvements in performance, battery life, display, and software support, but at a slightly higher price compared to the S23 FE.
The S24 FE features a larger 6.7-inch display compared to the S23 FE’s 6.4-inch panel. The S24 FE achieves a higher peak brightness of 1900 nits versus the S23 FE’s 1450 nits. Battery capacity has also been increased by 200mAh over the S23 FE.
The Galaxy S25 FE is said to be equipped with an Exynos 2400e chip, the same as the S24 FE. The reason is that Samsung has “mastered” manufacturing the 4nm chipset, which also powers the Galaxy S24 and S24+ in most regions.
Samsung’s going to release the Android 16-based One UI 8 with upcoming foldables in July this year. As the Galaxy S25 FE has a later release window, it is highly likely to follow the software lead, bringing One UI 8 pre-installed.

Samsung signals 2025 launch for Galaxy Tri-Fold phone in Q1 earnings remarks

Samsung may soon launch its first Tri-Fold phone, possibly by the end of 2025. The company gave a strong hint about this new device during its Q1 2025 earnings call, where it talked about new foldable designs and form factor innovation.
For the past few years, Samsung has focused on two types of foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. These phones fold either like a book or like a clamshell. While they’ve been updated every year, the overall shape has stayed the same.
Now, Samsung seems ready to try something new. The upcoming tri-fold phone might be called the Galaxy G Fold, and it could have a large 9.9-inch screen when fully opened.
Samsung said it wants to make foldables that are not only powerful but also easy to carry and use. It also plans to include Galaxy AI features in its foldables to make the experience smarter and more helpful.
The company didn’t officially confirm the tri-fold phone, but the mention of “new form factors” and focus on real-life usability points to something different from the current Z Fold or Z Flip.
Reports say that the Galaxy G Fold may launch in limited numbers in just a few markets first, with a wider release expected next year. If it does arrive in 2025, the tri-fold phone could be Samsung’s biggest change in foldable smartphone design in years. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung reportedly picks Exynos 2500 over Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy Z Flip 7—Fold 7 not included

Samsung just confirmed its next-gen foldable phones with upgraded AI will launch in the second half. The official debut is expected in July this year, and a new report reveals Samsung has finalized Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 will debut with Exynos 2500 as Samsung has chosen its in-house chip over Snapdragon 8 Elite, reports ChosunBiz. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 sticks with Qualcomm, utilizing the powerful Snapdragon chipset.
Samsung’s 3nm Exynos 2500 was originally planned to be used in the Galaxy S25 and S25+. However, yield concerns led it to be postponed, and it now seems to have tapped Galaxy Z Flip 7 as its resort to see the light of day.
Galaxy Z Flip sells significantly fewer than the Galaxy S series. This fact has favored the Exynos 2500 to debut with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 this year. Also, the decision to go with Exynos over Qualcomm was largely driven by cost.
It’s going to be the first time that a Galaxy foldable uses Samsung’s in-house Exynos chipset. The company has always preferred Snapdragon chips to offer the best experience on foldable phones that are relatively expensive than others.
Exynos 2500 is designed by the System LSI division and manufactured by Samsung Foundry. It features a 10-core CPU and Xclipse GPU, while the cutting-edge 3nm process reduces the size and improves performance and efficiency.
Beyond that, Samsung is in talks with Qualcomm to produce the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. The company is aiming to secure orders to manufacture the next Snapdragon chips on its 2nm process, targeting the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to feature same 12MP selfie camera as S25 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge phone’s selfie camera details pop up online as we approach the tentative debut in May. The device is almost confirmed to share the same selfie camera specs as the other three models of the S25 lineup.
Regulatory database allegedly revealed the selfie camera specs of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The device would have a 1/32-inch sensor with 12-megapixel resolution. It’s most likely to be the same sensor as utilized by the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 lineup’s selfie camera produces stunning selfie shots and videos. The sensor is greatly optimized with One UI. Samsung bringing a 12MP selfie snapper to the S25 Edge reiterates its intention to prefer mature hardware.
With the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung replaced the 40-megapixel solution with a new 12-megapixel one. It sounds a downgrade, but practically, the new 12-megapixel shooter offers better quality shots and it’s integrated with AI, too.
Recently, a leaked image showcased the hardware map of the S25 Edge. The phone will have dual cameras on the back, two microphones (each on the top and the bottom), a USB Type-C port for charging and audio output, as well as other stuff.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be introduced on May 13 in South Korea. Following the initial reveal, the South Korean tech giant is likely to bring the S25 Edge to the Global market and the USA by the end of next month.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge layout leaks and predictably, the 3.5mm jack still dead

A new leak shows off the full hardware layout of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The image probably belongs to the user manual, which will be available post-official debut. Unsurprisingly, Samsung’s keeping the 3.5mm headphone jack, avoiding.
Leaked Samsung image showcases Galaxy S25 Edge phone’s hardware and port layout. The picture reveals the phone has two microphones, a total of 3 camera sensors, an LED flashlight, a USB Type-C port, volume keys, and a side button.
- Upper side – Secondary microphone
- Bottom – SIM card tray, Primary microphone, USB/Charging/Audio Port, and Speaker
- Right – Volume rockers and side key
- Rear – Dual camera with LED flash
- Front – Selfie camera
Well, no one has even thought of a 3.5mm headphone jack in the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, it’s another time we remember the iconic smartphone feature. The image highlights that the Type-C port can be used for audio output as well.

The smartphone may get Ceramic protection rather than Glass. The company aims to retain the durability while reducing the thickness of the Galaxy S25 Edge, in which the new Ceramic material is expected to play a key role.
Galaxy S25 Edge Launch Date
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S25 Edge in South Korea next month. The initial reveal is likely on May 23, with the Global and US debut may happen later next month.
The Galaxy S25 Edge reportedly falls between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra in terms of pricing. Paired with 12GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, it will be available in 256GB and 512GB models.
