‘Modes and Routines‘ is the new compartment added under Samsung Settings with the new Android 13-based One UI 5.0 software. Its Modes section carries different settings to deliver users a more personalized experience and the possibility of programming their devices according to their daily activities.
Samsung One UI 5.0 Modes feature allows you to set customized device settings that you can enable with a single tap when needed. With this, you can manage your smartphone notifications and apps based on where you are so that you can control your smartphone even though it’s in your pocket or bag.

How to set up One UI 5.0 Modes:
Samsung offers you a bunch of common modes that you can activate and edit with ease. These include Sleep, Driving, Exercise, Relax, and Work. However, you can create different modes according to the tasks you perform on daily basis.
Here, I am presenting you the driving mode which really fascinated me. With this mode, you can use your GPS while driving and limit interference from applications and notifications. To Activate the “Driving” mode, first head over to the “Settings” app on your Galaxy smartphone.
Visit the “Modes and Routines” menu. On the “Modes” section, tap on “Driving” and the “Start”. From here, you can connect the Bluetooth of your car to your smartphone by checking the option “Bluetooth device is connected”.
Now click on the “Next” button at the bottom of your screen and select your car’s Bluetooth. Hit the “Next” box again. Now enable “Do Not Disturb” mode. And if you want to mark exceptions to do not disturb mode while driving, you can allow “Calls and messages” but also “App notifications”.
Again, click the “Next” button. Now choose the settings to apply when starting the Driving View by ticking the option that suits you. Finally, tap “Done” to finish. Similarly, you can set up all other Modes on your smartphone.

- Enable the Motion Photo feature by tapping on its icon.

- Visit the Gallery and select your photo that has been successfully taken.
- Tap ‘View Motion Photo’ to explore the frames.
- Choose the best image in Motion Photo and apply ‘Quick Crop’.

- Minimum: Take pictures as fast as possible by not optimizing pictures after they are taken.
- Optionally, enable or disable the Scene Optimizer.
This feature allows for customization of photo attributes such as sharpness, contrast, and brightness. For example, selecting the minimum level results in more natural-looking images, while the maximum level increases detail and sharpness, which is ideal for zoomed-in shots. Notably, the quality optimization setting of these levels only affects Photo Mode.
If you enable Scene Optimizer, it automatically optimizes the color and contrast of pictures to make dark scenes look brighter, food looks tastier and landscapes look more vivid.
