Multitasking

Better app previews on the Recents screen

  • The Recents screen now shows apps as they will appear after you open them. You can easily see if an app is opened in split screen, full screen, or as a pop-up.

Easily switch from pop-up view to split screen

  • Press and hold the handle at the top of the pop-up window, then drag the app to the side of the screen where you want it to be shown.

Restore pop-ups snapped to the edge of the screen

  • Drag an app in pop-up view to the edge of the screen to snap it to the edge and keep it out of the way. When you need it again, tap anywhere on the pop-up to bring it back to its previous location.

Check minimized apps with the S Pen

  • Hover your S Pen above a floating app icon to see a preview of how the app will appear when you open it.

Taskbar

More recent apps

  • You can now choose how many recently used apps to show on the taskbar (up to 4).

Quick Share

Share with contacts

  • You can now send files to your contacts anytime, even if they’re not near you.

Share files privately

  • Protect private content when you share it. You can set expiration dates for the files you send, cancel sharing at any time, and prevent recipients from saving or resharing.

Camera and Gallery

More date and time styles for watermarks

  • Customize the date and time separately with more style options to get the perfect look for your watermark.

Enhanced remaster previews

  • Thumbnail images are now shown below the image you’re remastering. Tap a thumbnail to compare the remastered image to the original with a larger view.

Apply effects more easily

  • Filter and tone effects in Gallery now use a dial instead of a slider making it easier to make precise adjustments with just one hand.

Copy and paste effects

  • You can now copy and paste filters and tones from one picture you’ve edited to another.

Additional changes

Drag and drop with two hands

  • Start dragging files, app icons, or other items with one hand, then use your other hand to navigate to the folder or location where you want to drop them. Supported in My Files and the Home screen.

Keep storage space available

  • When you’re running low on space in your internal storage, app cache information will be shown when you analyze storage in My Files. Clearing app caches can help you free up space without deleting files or apps.

Enhanced memory management in Device care

  • More information is provided about apps using memory on your tablet, giving you the option to put apps to sleep if too much memory is being used.

Change your mode from the Lock screen

  • Change between Sleep mode, Driving mode, and other modes directly from the Lock screen.

Customize your layout in Samsung Internet

  • You can now make the taskbar appear at the bottom of the screen. When you do this, the tab bar and bookmark bar will also be shown at the bottom.

Samsung looked at your morning Alarm and thought, ‘we can do better’

One UI 9 (oneui9)

Samsung has reinvented the Alarm screen in One UI 9, and it makes the design literally better. The app is getting a major upgrade over the One UI 8.5, and it seems Samsung actually thought “we can do better here.”

One UI 9 Alarm screen brings three changes

Samsung has repositioned the Alarm label at the top. The label is now placed where it should have been years ago. It’s a minor change, but it makes a significant impact on the overall visual approach of the function.

You won’t be confused between Timer and Alarm.

The next major change was applied at the bottom. The button to dismiss the alarm has removed the dual border design in favor of a cleaner design button, which is a little better and simpler.

The double-button system to adjust snooze delay has also been tweaked. Rather than separate buttons accompanied by a prominent pill, the buttons have joined the pill to turn a single hub.

Samsung’s decision to bring the Alarm label to the top has increased space among the three central components, including the label itself, clock, and day plus date.

The One UI 9 Alarm screen has increased padding compared to One UI 8.5. This difference offers an even better appearance to the alarm screen, which you wake up to every morning.

Note that you can’t bring back the Alarm label to the bottom. All three available redesigns staple the label on the top, and it’s something Samsung has nailed with.

Samsung has made plenty of minor changes across the user interface in One UI 9. These changes collectively improve the overall visibility and aesthetics of the software. Do you like the new Alarm screen redesign? Let us know through X at @thesammyfans.

Samsung rolls out Hindi language support for AI Call Screening in India

Published

Samsung Galaxy AI features

Call Screening, which debuted with the Galaxy S26 series, has expanded to plenty of Samsung devices with One UI 8.5. Now, Samsung is bringing Hindi language support to the AI-powered Call Screening feature in India.

Hindi, a prominent language in India, is also one of the most spoken languages worldwide. Samsung has a huge Galaxy user base in the market. People have their conversations in Hindi, and Call screening is now supported.

X user HarshRaj confirmed that his Galaxy S25 Ultra has added Hindi as a supported language inside Call Screening menu. It happened after the recent update for Samsung’s language pack delivered through Galaxy Store.

If your Samsung phone’s running One UI 8.5, update the language packs from Galaxy Store. Once done, check the Call screening settings to alter the language. It might also be a server-side rollout, so wait a little for broad availability.

Samsung’s Call Screening feature relies on artificial intelligence to assist Galaxy users with phone calls. Using this feature, you allow the call assistant to answer calls and ask the caller who they are and why they are calling.

The conversation continues further between the caller and AI, while a transcript is displayed in real-time. You are not attending the phone call; AI is handling everything, yet you are getting a real-time overview of the discussion.

The system allows you to answer the call mid-screening or switch to Text call. The feature entitled Text call is available on various Samsung devices and allows you to talk to the caller through text-based inputs that AI speak aloud.

Samsung Galaxy S25 could be next for One UI 9 Beta

Samsung Galaxy S25 S26 Ultra SG26U SG25U

One UI 9 Beta Program is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series, but Samsung could soon expand it to the Galaxy S25 series. After news of internal testing, it turns out that Samsung could soon expand the Beta Program.

The One UI 9 official version will launch with the Galaxy Z8 series next month. It’s based on Android 17 and introduces major changes to crucial aspects of the user interface, such as Quick Panel, Status bar, and animations.

Samsung hasn’t revealed its One UI 9 Beta expansion plans for Galaxy users. However, the first internal firmware has surfaced on the server. It signals the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is next in line for the One UI 9 Beta update.

If true, that’s going to be a significant development for last year’s lineup. However, the actual release depends purely on Samsung’s release strategy.

Samsung will continue to test the Beta build internally. Galaxy S26 users have already received two Beta builds so far, with the third probably coming next week. Samsung may push the fourth Beta as well by the end of June 2026.

Galaxy S25 series has just come out of the One UI Beta Program. The Korean tech giant has started rolling out the One UI 8.5 stable update in early May 2026. It seems the One UI 9 Beta may arrive by the end of June or early July.

Galaxy S26’s Beta is limited to Germany, India, Poland, Korea, the UK, and the US. That said, the activity’s scope would be similar for the S25 series as well.

Here’s why Galaxy S22, S21 FE, Fold 4, Tab S8, and A53 may not get One UI 8.5

Published

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

A hidden Android 16 change is reportedly keeping One UI 8.5 update away from plenty of popular Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S22 series. The company’s roadmap excluded many expected devices, and a new theory is now being spread online, revealing the possible reason behind the ineligibility.

One UI 8.0 is built on Android 16 QPR1, while One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16 QPR2. Google runs the QPR Beta Program to develop and test the quarterly Feature Drop updates for Pixel devices, and that’s where the exclusion happened.

One UI 8.5 may be out of reach for many

The jump from Android 16 QPR1 to Android 16 QPR2 sounds little, but the difference is relatively major. The shift from QPR1 to QPR2 was significant, which could have led Samsung to exclude many popular, deserving models.

Our friends over at GalaxyClub report that One UI 8.5 backed by Android 16 QPR2 version is the reason Galaxy S22 series, S21 FE, Fold 4 and Flip 4, Tab S8 series, and A53 and A33, do not stand eligible for the upgrade.

Samsung is continuously expanding the update to various models. The company’s cheapest Galaxy A06, M06, and F06 are also getting One UI 8.5. Meanwhile, flagship phones and select midrangers are no longer eligible for it.

Flagships released in 2022 still have better hardware specs than today’s mid-range and affordable phones. However, the end-of-life has turned out to be the biggest letdown, stopping a free upgrade for the deserving devices.

Samsung has reportedly tried to optimize One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S22 series in April 2026. The internal development has hit a roadblock due to the determination of the policy, reiterated in the official roadmap earlier.

One UI 8.5 is rolling out to devices that are eligible for One UI 9. The rollout has already started for dozens of Galaxy models, and is still expanding. It should be wrapped up shortly as One UI 9 testing is speeding up the pace.
