Samsung’s SmartThings app is now available for Windows 10 PCs
SmartThings is Samsung’s massive IoT platform that works with countless smart devices including products from Amazon, Phillips Hue, Ring, and Sonos. After smartphones, the company introduced its PC version, which is available for millions of Windows 10 PCs through the Microsoft Store.
In late last month, the South Korean tech giant unveiled its new Galaxy Book Pro series and said that SmartThings will come with these laptops pre-installed. Meanwhile, it looks like that this is not exclusively available for Samsung laptops, even after its description shows that it has been optimized for Galaxy Book.
At the same time, the SmartThing app’s description shows that you can use your Samsung Smart TV, home appliances, and SmartThings-compatible devices more conveniently. Moreover, you can quickly and easily connect and control your devices with SmartThings.
Adding to this, you can control and monitor the status of various devices that are registered on the server such as smart devices, home appliances (refrigerators, kimchi refrigerators, wine cellars, washers, dryers, air dressers, ovens, dishwashers, cooktops, robot vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, air purifiers, etc.), TVs, and speakers from outside as well.
- The status of devices registered through Wi-Fi AP can be monitored and controlled remotely
- Various devices can be grouped into one mode and operated at the same time
- You can receive status information about your device using the Notifications feature

Google Messages adds waveforms to Voice Recorder UI

Google Messages is getting a new look for its voice recorder UI. The microphone icon in the text field will change to a waveform icon, which is different from the voice typing button in Gboard.
Instead of holding down the mic to record, you will now see a panel with a start/stop button and options to cancel, delete, or attach the recording. You will also see a waveform and a timer while recording, and you can play back the recording before sending it.
The voice messages preview will also show a waveform between the play/pause button and the timer, making it more noticeable than the current straight line.
These changes are not widely available yet, but some users have reported seeing them on their phones. These new changes are part of a bigger redesign that Google is working on for Messages, which includes a revamped home screen that is still in beta testing. Google might announce new features soon.

Google Weather with new Dynamic User Interface starts rolling out

Google has started releasing a new Dyanamic UI for its Weather app to bring a more consistent and modern look to the weather information on Android phones. The new Google Weather UI was first spotted on the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, according to tipster Mishaal Rahman. And, in the last few days, some Pixel phone users have also reported seeing the new UI on their devices.
Interestingly, some Samsung smartphone users have also claimed to have the new UI on their phones, suggesting that the rollout is not exclusive to Google devices.
The new UI has a darker and more professional look than the previous one, and it still features the cute frog character that changes according to the weather conditions.
The new Google Weather UI is still not widely available, and it seems that Google is testing it with a small number of users before rolling it out to everyone. However, it is not clear when Google will roll out the new UI to all users, but we will keep you updated on any developments.
