Samsung Galaxy S21 gets April 2023 security update from Verizon
Verizon begins to release the April 2023 security update for Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Recently, the carrier-unlocked Galaxy S22 series started grabbing the latest Android patches, which brings nothing other than security improvements.
Interestingly, consumers are praising the US networks for providing new software updates on carrier-unlocked models with a short delay. Sometimes, the initial rollout begins with US carriers, and it’s the same case for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series’ April 2023 update.
From Verizon, the Galaxy S21 series has already received 31 software updates, with the latest patch being the 32nd addition. Throughout the period, the carrier delivered two major OS and four One UI iterations along with dozens of security patches.
To trigger a manual install, you just need to navigate toward your Galaxy S21’s Settings. Once done, visit the Software update tab and hit Download and install button. Let your device connect to OTA server and allow it to download the new firmware, if there’s any.

Galaxy S23 Series
In February 2023, the South Korean tech giant introduced the Galaxy S23 flagships. Over the S21 series, the new S23 models bring major performance improvements and enhanced battery life, thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor.
In the US, you can avail of exciting trade-in offers to upgrade to the new Galaxy S23 series. The Ultra model is equipped with a huge 200-megapixel image sensor, which unlocks lossless photography. You can visit Samsung.com/us to check the latest S23 offers.
Well, if you don’t want to spend money on a new phone this year, you can wait as the S21 series still gets monthly security updates. The company promised to bring up to five years of patches along with major OS upgrades until Android 15.

Google Play Store widely releasing ‘Government’ badge for official apps
Google has rolled out a ‘Government’ badge on the Play Store to identify official apps. This badge is marked by an icon of a building and appears in various sections of the store, including the main app feed, search results, and on app pages, next to the app’s rating.
Over 3,000 official apps have received the government badge after a period of testing. Google has collaborated with the respective governments and their developers to ensure the authenticity of these apps.
The badge is now visible on official apps from state and federal governments in several countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the UK, and the US.
It is recommended by official parties or agencies to use government emails when setting up their developer accounts. Apps that involve sensitive information, like voting or ID services, undergo extra verification.
By clicking on the badge, you can confirm that the app is verified and affiliated with a government entity. This new feature aims to provide users with a secure way to access government services through their mobile devices.
