Named Fan Edition, but forgot to bring the Android 13 upgrade! That’s what we are seeing across social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Reddit. Samsung is praising itself for Android 13 distribution, while owners of Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE are too disappointed.

Samsung released the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE with Android 12 and Android 10 operating systems, respectively. Owners of these devices are now feeling oppressed as the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 upgrade is pending for a long.

The last year’s Galaxy M52 and Galaxy M32 budget phones have even received the major Android 13 upgrade, while the affordable variants of Galaxy S21 and S20 series flagships are still waiting for the same treatment. The reason behind this delayed rollout is unknown, and everyone just hoping the update will release soon.

In Germany, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE smartphones are planned to get updated to the new Android 13-based One UI 5.0 version by November itself. Some models that were scheduled for December rollout have already received the new OS, while, FE model owners are still running Android 12.

As there are still about 10 days remaining in November, we recommend users of Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S20 FE keep patience. The company may have been working to polish the newest Android 13-based One UI 5.0 upgrade, before seeding it to the Public.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is world’s best-selling Android phone

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the world’s best-selling Android phone. Counterpoint Research published a new report, revealing the share of Global Top-10 Best-selling smartphones in Q1 2024.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max tagged as the world’s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter. Second, third, and fourth ranks were also seized by Apple handsets: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14, respectively.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is the fifth most-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2024. It makes the S24 Ultra the world’s best-selling phone from the Android portfolio as other above rankers powered by iOS.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra secured 1.9% of the market share despite the shipments were started in late January. Beyond that, Samsung’s Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A54 smartphones ranked sixth and seventh best-selling phones.

Apple and Samsung dominated the top-10 best-selling smartphones list for Q1 2024. Notably, the Pro Max variant achieved the top position for the first time in Apple’s non-seasonal quarter.

Samsung launches Australia-themed Fortnite map, competition

Samsung Fortnite Clash of Commuters

Samsung announced Clash of Commuters on Fortnite in Australia. This new experience features Australian icons from the humble Bin Chicken to a Sydney train to let gamers play a uniquely Australian and public transport-inspired map in Fortnite Creative.

Players can also win Samsung swag IRL by participating in the Clash of Commuters until May 30. To be a winner, gamers have to defend an Aussie public bus across 5 checkpoints as it meanders through a dystopian commute, complete with bin chickens, servos, and caffeine-starved commuters.

Samsung’s new Clash of Commuters map enables players to experience an all-new Fortnite Creative island. It also allows them to defend the very thing that they commonly game on. Pay attention, 44% of Aussie gamers admit they game while commuting to pass the time.

Samsung tasked force to finalize HBM deal with Nvidia

Samsung formed a team for a billions-of-dollars HBM supply deal with Nvidia. The company is putting efforts into winning the contract from the global artificial intelligence semiconductor giant to beat the HBM market leader SK Hynix.

According to KEDGlobal, Samsung made a task force to finalize its HBM deal with Nvidia. The team comprises about 100 excellent engineers, who have been working to improve manufacturing yields and quality with the first aim to pass Nvidia’s tests.

“Samsung aims to log a high market share by quickly increasing supply to Nvidia,” said one of the sources. “It is expected to speed up the supply from the third quarter.”

Previously, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang asked Samsung Elec to increase the yields and quality of 8-layer and 12-layer HBM3E chips for supply. It’s worth noting that HBM3E is the world’s best-performing DRAM chip for AI applications.

36Gb 12-layer HBM

The South Korean tech giant has been focussing on the 36Gb 12-layer HBM3E model. Samsung finished the development of HBM3E in February 2024 and aiming to pass the quality test conducted by Nvidia this month.

To meet Nvidia’s demand, the company has secured production lines already to increase output. The 12-layer HBM3E improves AI learning speed by 34% on average compared to the 8-layer product.
