How to use Samsung One UI 4.1-based Secure Folder to keep your files private
Samsung One UI 4.1 is official and has reached many Galaxy device owners through OTA updates. The new custom OS brings hand full of new features at the same time, improves, optimizes, or customizes the older ones.
Samsung Secure Folder is an aged One UI feature that keeps your private photos, videos, files, apps, and data safe and secure. The feature continues to provide its services to One UI 4.1 users. Although it hasn’t seen any significant new changes, the feature has been improved, at least in terms of performance.

Moreover, the Samsung One UI 4.1 Secure Folder is protected by the defense-grade Samsung Knox security platform that makes sure that your information is kept safe from any malicious attacks. The service also allows you to add a passcode or biometric lock to keep your data safe from any others eyes.
Samsung Secure Folder users can add an existing app on their phone to their Secure Folder to make a copy of the app. You can also add new apps from Galaxy Store or Play Store only to install them in the Secure Folder itself and only these apps can access your hidden files.
Samsung One UI 4.1 Secure Folder
Before you set up your Secure Folder, you first need a Samsung Account.
How to create secure folder?
- Enter the Setting of your smartphone.
- Tap Biometrics and security.
- Tap Secure Folder.
- You will need to sign into or create a Samsung Account.
- Tap Sign in, Continue, or Agree.
- Enter your Samsung Account details, then tap Sign in or OK.
- Choose the lock method you wish to use, then tap Next.
- Enter the lock method, then choose Continue.
- Enter the lock method again, then choose Confirm.
- A shortcut to the Secure Folder will be added to your Home and Apps screen.
How to add files to Secure Folder?
After you have set up your Secure Folder you can move your private files. There are several ways to move files to the Secure Folder.
- Open your Secure Folder
- Tap Add files or tap the three dots and tap Add files
- Choose the type of file that you want to add
- Select the files you want to add and tap Done
- Choose whether you want to copy or move the files
You can also move your files directly from where they are saved on your phone. This only works with apps that are made by Samsung, such as My Files, Gallery and Voice Recorder.
- Open an official Samsung app such as Gallery
- Select the files that you want to move
- Tap the options icon. It will appear as three dots in the bottom right corner
- Tap Move to Secure Folder

Photos, videos, and files stored in Secure Folder won’t be accessible in regular apps. If you need them, you have to access the Secure Folder – authentication required. It takes the security and user privacy to a whole new level and the data is secured by Samsung on-device.
Secure Folder can keep your most private data such as calendar schedules and contact info, as well as notes, photos, videos, files, and even apps. You can even encrypt the Secure Folder to keep your apps and data even more locked down until the next time you open the folder.
You can find Secure Folder in your apps.
The first time you open it, you’ll have to set your lock type to either a PIN, pattern, or password, with fingerprint authentication can be enabled as well. Anything you create within the Secure Folder will be automatically stored here, but you can also move data here at any time.
For instance, if you want to keep a copy of your driver’s license, you can take a photo of it using the Camera app within Secure Folder, or you can pick a photo in your Gallery, tap the options menu (the three dots) and then select ‘Move to Secure Folder.’

How to use the Motion Photo feature?
- Launch the Camera app
- Enable the Motion Photo feature by tapping on its icon.
- Click the shutter button as usual to take a photo
- Visit the Gallery and select your photo that has been successfully taken.
- Tap ‘View Motion Photo’ to explore the frames.
- Choose the best image in Motion Photo and apply ‘Quick Crop’.

The Intelligent Optimization feature allows users to adjust how their photos are processed. Whether capturing everyday moments or professional shots, the Intelligent Optimization feature in One UI 6.1 ensures that your photos meet your standards with minimal effort.
How to activate it?
You can easily enable the Intelligent Optimization feature by following the steps below.
- Open the Camera app, then Settings.
- Tap on Intelligent Optimization.
- Choose the desired optimization level
- Maximum
- Medium: Speed up capture time by doing less optimization
- Minimum: Take pictures as fast as possible by not optimizing pictures after they are taken.
- Optionally, enable or disable the Scene Optimizer.
This feature allows for customization of photo attributes such as sharpness, contrast, and brightness. For example, selecting the minimum level results in more natural-looking images, while the maximum level increases detail and sharpness, which is ideal for zoomed-in shots. Notably, the quality optimization setting of these levels only affects Photo Mode.
If you enable Scene Optimizer, it automatically optimizes the color and contrast of pictures to make dark scenes look brighter, food looks tastier and landscapes look more vivid.
