Google Photos Home Screen Shortcut makes accessing local folders easy

Published

on

Google Photos Shortcut

Google Photos is a useful application when it comes to managing photos stored locally or in Google Drive. Besides, it also has a great photo and video editing tool.

However, accessing photos stored locally on your phone is a daunting task. For those of you who don’t know, these images can be found within a folder called “Library”, located at the bottom of the tab.

According to the Google News-Telegram group, Google is making it easier to find your locally stored screenshots and other folders. A new shortcut located at the top of the Home Photos screen will help you with that.

The Telegram group shared a few screenshots (attached below) that will help you understand better. Screenshots show a shortcut that is hard to miss on the app’s home screen. In addition, the shortcut will also show you the number of new photos added to a folder.

The new card will not be limited to screenshots (via-AndroidPolice). Google Images may also show newly updated folders with new media files and may be displayed on the home screen, but examples are not available.

Google Photos may also show this card to recommend recently updated albums or other galleries. It may use machine learning to show you what the app thinks you might want to see.

Recently, Google Photos introduced a feature that allows users to change the date or time of an image. This is useful as you now do not need to open the Google Photos desktop version to do so.

In addition, the Android app has received Material You makeover with new home screen design features. However, the new Google Photos shortcut comes out with a server-side update.

WhatsApp video sending issue affects Samsung Galaxy S series and other Android devices

WhatsApp video sending issue

A recent update to WhatsApp for Android users has brought an issue that is preventing users from sending videos. Spotted after updating to version v2.24.9.34, the issue shows in an error message – “Can’t send this video. Choose a different video and try again.”

This issue seems to be specific to videos that are recorded or saved directly on Android devices. Whereas, videos captured by iPhones, especially in MOV format, are not being affected and can be shared without any issues. This bug is also affecting some videos downloaded from Instagram to the device’s storage.

The video-sending issue on WhatsApp is not affecting every Android user, but it has been verified on some devices, notably the Galaxy S series. Several users reported their concerns on social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and more to highlight the inconvenience caused by this unexpected bug.

For those who want an immediate fix to this issue, upgrading to older WhatsApp version 2.24.8.85 is a temporary solution. As of now, WhatsApp has not issued an official statement about the issue. It’s recommended to wait for a permanent solution before proceeding with any app upgrades.
