Latest Google Camera 8.4 update brings Timer light, Exposure controls and more
Google rolls out new features to its native Camera application for the latest flagship smartphone lineup every fall. Now, the company has started to release a new Google Camera application update, which bears version number 8.4, to older Pixel phones, bringing camera features from Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
For Google Pixel smartphones, a new version of the Google Camera app (8.4.200.406250151.12) has begun to release through the Play Store (via 9to5Google). However, it’s a gradual rollout, the availability may vary, meanwhile, you can sideload it through manual APK installation via third-party platforms.
Google Camera 8.4 – New features and changes
With the Google Camera 8.4, Google had made clearer UI while swiping down from the top of the display shows settings, thanks to added gear button next to the chevron icon. Meanwhile, you can find it at the center on Pixel 4a-5a due to the cornered selfie camera.
Settings, on the other hand, introduces a new section called “Manual Controls” that allows users to enable or disable “Exposure”. It could be a significant change for the users that like a simpler viewfinder that’s not cluttered at the right edge. Under “Advanced,” the “Timer light” sees the rear flash work as a countdown.
What about non-Pixel phones?
Following the release, modders will soon bring the GCam Mod based on Google Camera 8.4 including all the features and changes. Accordingly, non-Pixel smartphone users will also be able to use the new Google Camera features such as Timer light and Exposure controls.
