From eSports to family game nights, Samsung presenting solid efforts in the golden age of gaming
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the lifestyle of peoples has totally changed as everyone wants to stay safe by working from home. At the same time, they have also taken on new activities and hobbies as they spending more time at home. Besides, we have also seen a significant rise in gaming across the globe.
Recently, Entertainment Software Association published a report expecting 214 million gamers are only in the United States. It shows, how gaming has become a fun group activity nowadays, especially for those looking to connect with others. Besides, the report reveals that more than six out of 10 players regularly play with others either online or in person.
However, the rising popularization of gaming is not limited to the US as last year, Facebook’s “Games Marketing Insights for 2021” said that numbers of first-time gamers reached new highs in countries around the world with 8.6 million in the U.K., 6.5 million in Germany, and 9.4 million in South Korea.
During these experiences, Samsung’s internal research data reveals that 35.3 percent of users in the US connected their gaming devices to their QLED TV in March 2021, which is doubled from 19.4 percent in March of 2020. In addition, the number of Korean users almost tripled from 11.4 percent to 27 percent during the same period.
However, the Samsung 65-inch segment has been the most popular TV size for gaming while the high-end models, which feature a 120Hz refresh rate, were more likely to be connected to the latest gaming consoles. This data tells us that Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation gamers like to use premium TVs with enhanced gaming features.
In the context of the popularity of the game, Samsung adjusted the 2021 TV lineup, keeping in mind the hearts of gamers. The company’s latest TV is equipped with top features designed to promote the next level of gaming experience.
Samsung 2021 Neo QLED TVs
Samsung’s 2021 Neo QLED TVs support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which is a technology that enables true HDR console and PC gaming. This tech adds to the HDR support that delivers bright scenes brighter and dark scenes darker. Moreover, Neo QLED’s Motion Xcelerator Turbo+ technology offers ultra-smooth motion in 4K 120Hz.
Samsung’s 2021 Neo QLED TV also obtained the first Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker’s (VDE) Gaming TV Performance certification. The four 2021 Neo QLED models (QN900, QN800, QN90, and QN85) are certified for their excellent HDR performance (including peak brightness of over 1000 nits).
Apart from this, one of the lowest input lags in the industry is its low input lag at 4K at 120Hz, with a response time of about 5ms. These features are not only suitable for consumers who buy TVs for the first time, but also very fond of gamers, allowing users to capture every detail of the game.

Good Lock x Play Store | Samsung Good Lock app has been listed on the Google Play Store. It seems Samsung wants to bring Good Lock to all Galaxy users internationally.
Samsung’s most popular update | Galaxy AI features are included in One UI 6.1 making it Samsung’s most popular update ever. Samsung Europe mentioned that the One UI 6.1 update was downloaded by:
- 75% of Z Fold 5 users
- 80% of S23 Ultra users
- 65% of Tab S9 users
Wearable revolution | In a recent press release, Samsung shared a sneak peek at its wearable revolution, indicating new form factors and hardware upgrades, probably a rectangular Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Ring.

Apple seems to have decided to introduce its Generative AI tech this year. During the recent earnings call, Tim Cook talked about generative AI, claiming to have “advantages” that will “differentiate” Apple in the era of artificial intelligence.
Tim Cook also claimed that some “very exciting things” will be shared with customers soon. Apple’s CEO might be linking it with the yearly Developers event that takes place in June. After teasing the advancements next month, the iPhone 16 may ship with AI features.
Galaxy AI is a key reason behind Samsung’s sizzling S24 sales globally. Apple will likely sell high number of iPhone 16 models, thanks to AI’s inclusion. As the company claims, the edge over rivals would be worth watching on how previous companies have missed opportunity.
Apple is reportedly preferring on-device AI features rather than cloud-based. It’s a limited approach against Samsung, which introduced both on-device and cloud-based AI features with the Galaxy S24 series. Well, the industry is likely to benefit from Apple’s entry into the AI era.

Korea’s Samsung Display and LG Display prep to initiate Apple iPhone 16 Pro display production in the first half. The report states that Apple has reduced the bottom bezel of the display for the upcoming Pro models, which would include the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
According to TheElec, Samsung Display will commence Apple iPhone 16 display production in the first half itself. While the timeline isn’t clear, it’s expected that LG Display is also striving to begin the mass production of panels for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.
Samsung reportedly established an organization earlier this month to strengthen its Apple business. It is reported that the Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology is applied to make the bottom bezel thinner on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.
Samsung Display will likely produce OLED panels for all four models, including two Pro models and the other regular and Plus models. Meanwhile, LG Display plans to produce only two models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, which require a thin bottom bezel.
