Qualcomm could lose big if Samsung swaps Snapdragon for Exynos in Galaxy S27 Ultra
Rumors circulating across industry channels suggest the Samsung System LSI business has managed to secure the lion’s share of silicon orders for the upcoming Galaxy S27 series with its in-house Exynos 2700.
If the latest supply chain chatter holds any truth, Qualcomm’s high-margin reign inside Samsung’s flagship ecosystem might be facing its most severe stress test yet. More surprisingly, the processor shift isn’t restricted to base variants.
Rumor says Samsung swapped Snapdragon for Exynos in Galaxy S27 Ultra
The reports, via phonefuturist, point to Samsung deploying the Exynos 2700 across the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra in a majority of global markets, leaving Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platforms sidelined in regions where they previously held absolute dominance.
The Galaxy S lineup has consistently served as the single largest volume driver for Qualcomm. To put the revenue exposure into perspective, the Galaxy S25 series alone accounted for well over half of total Snapdragon 8 Elite sales.
Losing primary placement in the Galaxy S27 Ultra tier would carve a massive hole in Qualcomm’s mobile division revenue. That said, Qualcomm needs Galaxy S27 Ultra in the same way Samsung wants it to keep revenue and sales up.
While Samsung has repeatedly tried and failed to achieve full silicon parity in previous Galaxy S lineups, the financial incentive to bring Exynos back to the forefront has never been stronger.
If System LSI’s 2nm process yields and architectural design deliver acceptable thermal stability and sustained compute performance, reclaiming internal market share is the logical move for Samsung’s bottom line.
Even though they are early rumors, Qualcomm cannot afford to take these signals lightly. If Samsung successfully executes a broad Exynos rollout for the S27 Ultra, Qualcomm will be forced to aggressively diversify its customer base.

Galaxy S26 and Fold 8 demand drives Samsung camera supplier to Q3 profit swing
Galaxy S26 series and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series have boosted a Samsung camera supplier’s revenue in the third quarter of the year. The jump in revenue was roughly 38%, making a significant positive impact on operating profit.
Samsung camera supplier grows
Camsys turning a profit in the third quarter shouldn’t come as a massive surprise to anyone tracking Samsung’s mobile supply chain, but the scale of the rebound catches the eye.
The Korean optical component maker posted an operating profit of 7.4 billion won on revenue of 153.6 billion won, marking a dramatic 38 percent top-line bump over last year’s figures.
The turnaround stems almost entirely from its elevated position in Samsung’s camera module roster. By locking in supply contracts across the Galaxy S26 family and Fold 8 lineup, Camsys managed to shift its volume mix toward high-margin components.
While core smartphone modules continue to generate the bulk of its revenue, the company is quietly laying the groundwork for a broader hardware play.
Camsys expects initial revenue contributions from its AI vision-enabled security and smart home appliance camera divisions to start trickling into the balance sheet during the fourth quarter.
Broadening out into IoT hardware makes tactical sense given the volatility of consumer mobile cycles, though breaking into entrenched smart home ecosystems presents its own execution hurdles.
For now, riding Samsung’s premium refresh cycle gives Camsys a comfortable financial cushion to navigate that transition and chase a full-year net profit.

Launching iPhone Duo without retail stock is a ‘grave mistake’ by Apple
Apple initially planned the iPhone Duo release in the US and China, but ended up opening in 70 countries without determining retail stock. That is causing a massive blunder in Apple’s reputation for maintaining a stable supply chain.
The latest Bloomberg report confirms what industry observers have suspected: Apple pushed ahead with an aggressive iPhone Duo release across more than 70 countries while fully aware that its retail stock is short of demand.
Instead of concentrating limited initial yield in key anchor markets like the US and China, Apple dispersed its stock so thinly that walk-in availability on launch day was virtually non-existent.
For customers who skipped the preorder queue, current delivery estimates on the Apple Online Store stretch well into late January next year.
Asking early adopters to swallow a three-month wait for flagship hardware completely undermines Apple’s long-standing reputation for supply chain excellence.
Tim Cook’s operational playbook has historically relied on precision forecasting, making this decision to prioritize global press coverage over actual shelf presence a puzzling departure.
The move risks distancing Apple’s most loyal base, even if secondary sales soften the blow. Analysts note that empty shelves may push frustrated shoppers toward an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max sitting right next to the empty Duo display.
Selling a high-margin iPhone 18 Pro at half the foldable’s price point keeps revenue in Apple’s favor, but using premium inventory as a loss-leader for standard hardware is hardly a success.
Apple miscalculated the trade-off between worldwide exposure and stock reality, handing its rivals a clear tactical opening in the emerging foldable race.

Dua Lipa rejects Samsung’s attempt to dismiss $15 million image claims
Pop star Dua Lipa is challenging Samsung’s efforts to dismiss her $15 million lawsuit over the use of her images on television boxes without her permission. Her lawyers argue that the company used her image without approval and made it look as though she supported its products.
The case involves a photograph of Lipa taken backstage at the 2024 Austin City Limits music festival. Her image appeared inside a television screen printed on Samsung’s retail packaging, alongside content linked to its Samsung TV Plus streaming service.
Lipa filed the lawsuit on May 8, 2026, in a California federal court. She claims Samsung used her photograph on many televisions sold in the United States during 2025 and 2026, despite repeated requests to stop. She is seeking at least $15 million in damages.

Samsung denies deliberately using her image without permission. The company says a third-party content provider assured it that the necessary permissions had been obtained. It also argues that the photograph was meant to show entertainment content, not suggest that Lipa endorsed its televisions.
However, Lipa’s lawyers say customers could believe she had a paid partnership with Samsung because she has worked with major luxury brands. The two sides also disagree over whether California or English law should apply.
Judge Christina A. Snyder has not yet ruled on the case. Samsung must submit its next response by November 13, 2026, and a hearing is scheduled for December 14. The court’s decision will determine whether the lawsuit can continue.

Samsung building another Texas chip factory before its first opens
Samsung isn’t waiting around for its first Texas, US mega chip factory to process a single production wafer before doubling down.
According to DigiTimes (via HimanshiTech), Samsung plans to break ground on its second Taylor, Texas facility, Taylor Fab 2, in November 2026. The expansion projects a massive 2.7 million square foot footprint with mass production scheduled for 2030.
Samsung Electronics plans to begin construction of its second semiconductor fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas, in November 2026, moving ahead with its US foundry expansion as its first facility prepares to begin operations by the end of the year.
On paper, building a second fab before Fab 1 finishes its late-2026 ramp looks aggressively ambitious. But reading between the lines of the foundry landscape, it is a calculated hedge.
High-performance computing and client AI silicon demand continue to outpace existing Western capacity, and 2-nanometer capacity is going to be the central battlefield by the end of the decade.
Securing long-term physical real estate now lets Samsung lock in supply chain commitments early, even if commercial machinery installation timelines remain flexible.
It also signals that despite ongoing yield challenges and high U.S. construction overhead, Samsung considers its domestic hub non-negotiable for counterbalancing TSMC’s Arizona momentum.
Whether yield rates on their gate-all-around nodes stabilize fast enough to justify that timeline is the real question, but the physical commitment in Texas is clearly moving full steam ahead.
