Google has officially released fresh details of its Play System update for August 2026, delivering several new features, backend improvements, and bug fixes across Android smartphones, tablets, Wear OS, and PC devices.

The August 2026 Google Play System release enhances various core services, including the Google Play Store, Google Play services, Android AICore, and developer services.

Google Play Services (v26.30 and v26.31)

• Wear OS Workout Accuracy: Wear OS smartwatches receive server-side processing of raw location measurements, offering significantly more precise GPS route tracking during workouts.
• Wallet Passes UI: An upgraded user experience for managing digital Wallet passes on mobile devices.
• Developer and Account Management: New APIs for third-party developers to streamline account management integration in apps.

System and AI Core Improvements

Android AICore receives dynamic upgrades focused on audio streaming capabilities, system efficiency, and updated diagnostic tools on phones and PCs. Additionally, general stability fixes have been pushed to Android System Intelligence and Private Compute Services.

August is already moving fast, but Samsung’s August 2026 update rollout is still moving slowly. The company has started the rollout, but only some Galaxy phones have received the latest security update. This is much slower than the regular monthly security update rollout.

Samsung has so far released the August 2026 update for its latest foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are among the first devices to get the update. However, the update has not yet reached many other Galaxy models.
