Google Assistant adds two new styles to its collection of US English voices, which are designed to bring more diversity to your current options. In addition, the virtual assistant has also made it easier to change the voice, thanks to the new command – “Hey Google, change your voice.”

According to the info, the two new US English voices that arrive for Google Assistant are called “Indigo” and “Lime.” These voices are designed to bring more diversity to the existing options, joining the 10 other US English options. The new voices are appearing at the left of the carousel.

Tips to make Google Assistant your own

In addition to the new voices, Google shared two additional tips so users can personalize their phone’s Google Assistant software. With new upgrades to the application, you can now set up Voice Match for easy recognition and get personal results.

Navigate to Assistant settings on your phone or say “Hey Google, set up Voice Match” on Assistant-enabled devices like earbuds and smart displays. Your Voice Match profile is stored only on the devices where you’ve turned it on, but it may be sent temporarily to Google servers so Assistant can recognize you.

Once you set up Voice Match, the Assistant can share more personal results and responses. It can notify you about upcoming events on your Google Calendar and play music from your favorite streaming service. Here are some other Assistant commands, which you can set up and try:

  • Hey Google, play my summer playlist
  • Hey Google, call Mom
  • Hey Google, take me home
  • Hey Google, show me my reminders

Beta 3 takes Android 14 to Platform Stability: Stable release soon

Published

Android 14

Google is impressively running its Android 14 Beta Program for Pixel phones. Today, Google announced the Android 14 Beta 3 update, which takes the new operating system to Platform Stability. It’s a notable milestone, which Google reached as scheduled, taking the Stable release closer.

Platform Stability means that the developer APIs and all app-facing behaviors in the OS are now final, and won’t change until the mass market release. Now, third-party developers will work in robust mode to bring new features and user experience improvements to the applications.

Beta 3 allows the OS to support font scaling up to 200% by default, helping low-vision users with additional accessibility options. Moreover, the update makes it possible to grant partial access to the phone’s media library when an app requests any of the visual media permissions.

As showcased during the I/O 2023 Keynote, Google equipped Android 14’s Beta 3 with many new customization capabilities such as clock styles, enhanced always-on display, lock screen shortcuts, and new charging animation, along with several bug fixes.

Google Pixel users who are enrolled in the Android Beta Program, will get Beta 3 update over the air. If not, you can enroll over here with an eligible device. It’s worth mentioning that the company has also joined the Pixel 7a to Android 14’s Beta program.

As displayed in the roadmap, the US tech giant would release the Android 14 Beta 4 next month. Some users reported having severe issues like a broken fingerprint sensor so there’s a possibility of an incremental hotfix update in the coming days.

Expect a stable Android 14 release between late July and early August.

Android 14 Beta

On May 10, 2023, Google expanded Android 14 Beta to select non-Pixel flagship devices from partner brands. Samsung, as always, is skipping the Android Beta Program, while the new OS is available for select devices launched by iQOO, Lenovo, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi.

According to the roadmap, Android 14 may not get the third Beta in June 2023, along with hotfix updates. By the next month, Android’s version 14 will achieve the platform stability milestone, ensuring developers and OEMs that there won’t be major changes.

With Android 14, Google focussing on integrating Generative AI capabilities to Google Workspace services such as Messages and Gmail. The company teased a number of additions scheduled for release throughout the year, and the new OS will solidify stunning experiences.

The new OS adds an AI-powered Wallpaper feature, which will allow users to create walls through emojis as well as give a 3D effect. Most of the newly showcased features are already available for Samsung phones such as Cinematic Wallpaper is just a simple clone of Samsung’s Wonderland.

Moreover, the company revealed that it’s taking customization to the next level with the arrival of Android 14 later this year. There will be more new customization capabilities such as custom shortcuts and clock styles along with a new monochrome color theme.

Apart from this, there’s a lot in Google’s pipeline for the Android OS. It’s expected that the company may see the new version of AOSP by late July, meanwhile, the One UI 6 Beta is likely to begin this year early than the One UI 5 as Samsung is already testing it on Galaxy S23 internally.
