Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 to bring Android 12L One UI 4.1.1 pre-installed
A new version of One UI is expected every time Samsung launches a new flagship smartphone. With the launch of the Galaxy S22 series in February, the company introduced One UI 4.1, an enhanced version of last year’s One UI 4.0.
Now Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are coming in August and SammyFans can now confirm that the two upcoming foldable phones will come pre-installed with a new One UI version – One UI 4.1.1.
However, there’s a significant change. Unlike the One UI 4.0 and One UI 4.1 which are based on Android 12 OS, the One UI 4.1.1 will be based on Android 12L. Android 12L is a special version of Android 12 that is customized for foldables and tablets.
So the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will run Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 out of the box. The new custom OS will obviously bring new features and changes. Also, we’ll see some major changes that Google has made on Android 12L.
These changes could include a new two-column interface for the notification shade, a new taskbar UI for improved multitasking, improved scaling for apps that are not optimized for large-screen devices, and others.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip 4 launch date
Samsung is yet to officially announce the launch date of the upcoming devices. However, trusted sources reveal that these will be launched on August 10. Not only this, but the company will also be bringing the Galaxy Watch 5 that too with a new OS – WearOS 3.5-based One UI Watch 4.5.
Likely Samsung candidates for One UI 4.1.1 on top of Android 12L
It’s reported that Samsung will introduce the next-gen Galaxy Z foldable devices sometime in August 2022. Similar to the last year, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 will come with a new iteration of the One UI software system, which could be the One UI 4.1.1, based on Android 12.
In 2021, the South Korean tech giant delivered the new Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1 software to older foldable devices. Meanwhile, it was also noted that select Galaxy Note, S, and A series devices have also received the One UI 3.1.1 features, while the version number remained to One UI 3.1.
According to reports, Samsung One UI 4.1 update will be expanded to eligible Galaxy devices by July/August this year. Moving ahead, the company could reportedly start the One UI 5 Beta program, based on Android 13, for the Galaxy devices sometime in July.
