Explore the innovation behind Samsung’s in-display ultrasonic fingerprint ID!

Samsung S23 fingerprint scanner issue

Samsung’s Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is a revolutionary biometric authentication feature first launched in the Galaxy S10 series phones. This in-display fingerprint sensor attached to the Infinity-O display provides invisible but vault-like security that keeps your data safe.

Adding to this, biometric authentication is an important capability in smartphones today, especially for regulated industries and government agencies as well as your personal documents and photos.

The use of unique biometric identifiers to authenticate users provides a high level of protection for sensitive data, while mobile users enjoy a convenient unlock and sign-in experience.

Samsung Fingerprint Update

Here’s why users prefer Samsung Ultrasonic fingerprint!

The adoption of in-display fingerprint ID technology on newer Galaxy devices was driven by customer research. Samsung data shows that fingerprinting is the most commonly used biometric method to unlock Samsung phones. And the company also knows that most users prefer a fingerprint sensor centered on the front of the device so that they can easily reach it with their thumb.

But there is a catch! Consumers also want a bigger display with thinner bezels than most. The development of an in-display fingerprint sensor, which does not take up screen real estate – presents a significant technology and design challenge. The solution is highly secure and it is important to meet the strict requirements of the users.

Samsung Ultrasonic Innovation Fingerprint

Without the use of an optical fingerprint sensor, Samsung applied Ultrasonic technology. The Ultrasonic wave is transmitted through the display and the ultrasonic pulse captures the uniqueness of the fingerprint. Samsung’s ultrasonic method for biometric verification has several advantages:

  • In the optical method, the sensor has a visibility problem, resulting in a lower detection rate in bright sunlight. The ultrasonic method has an externally high detection rate and works well in low-temperature conditions.
  • Counters spoofing attempts by using 2D replicas of a person’s fingerprint using an ultrasonic fingerprint ID. Each ridge and notch in User Print‌ is mapped in 3D.
  • To further enhance security, Samsung uses machine learning algorithms to help distinguish between real fingerprints and duplicate 3D replicas.

Today, many Galaxy users are using biometrics as a method to unlock their phones at will. Keeping security at your fingertips is the best way to quickly access essential and important information for businesses and their customers.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is coming, but there’s bad news

Published

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE

The existence of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra was spotted by AndroidAuthority. This development further solidifies Samsung’s plan to bring the first Ultra foldable smartphone to the market this year. Compared to the standard model, Fold 6 Ultra would have better specs.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch in Summer 2024, the report says. Starting with the Galaxy S20 series, the company debuted its first Ultra model in its flagship lineup. Since then, the Galaxy S series has continued the strategy, with the latest model being the S24 Ultra.

AndroidHeadlines highlight that Samsung is unlikely to launch Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra outside Korea. The outlet has spotted SM-F958N in their database, confirming the existence of a Korean model. As there’s no Global or US-specific model appeared, Ultra may be Korea-exclusive.

Specs of Samsung’s Fold 6 Ultra haven’t surfaced yet, making it hard to determine the difference with the Standard variant. However, the Z Fold 6 is unlikely to boast an upgraded camera module, battery capacity, and faster charging. Hence, the Ultra would come out with some upgrades in these aspects.
