Samsung Display restructures old LCD plant to create new OLED panels
Samsung is regularly modernizing itself whether you talk about strengthening the digital design regarding high-performance computing or making new strategies and doing new appointments.
‘Sammobiles‘ has recently revealed that Samsung Display has restructured its L7-2 plant that previously made LCD panels to manufacture OLED panels now. It should come into operation from Q3, 2022, right before the demand for the TVs starts to surge in Q4.
Samsung Display can spend more than one trillion KRW to restructure the L7-2 plant and is likely to invest more in its OLED infrastructure to keep up with the rising expectations of producing more thinner QLED TVs.
Talking about the ideal circumstances the plant will be able to produce 180,000 OLED panels per year. It is interesting to know that the panel would be the sixth generation, which is slightly older than the eight generation panels used right now.
Looking at the production figures we cannot say that they are impressive, but let us tell you Samsung is also working on the A5 plant that will provide an equivalent amount of output and cutting edge eight-generation OLED panel. However, as of now, it’s not confirmed when these plants will be operational.
