Samsung server oriented DRAM sales exceed 10 billion dollars
Samsung Electronics has started developing its data center-oriented semiconductors as new growth engines. Samsung has also recently hired Robert Wisniewski as a high-performance computing expert from Intel as its vice president for strengthening competencies in all areas.
The news firm ‘etnews‘ has revealed what the tech research firm Omdia said about Samsung Electronics. It says that the DRAM server-oriented sales have reached 11.239 billion dollars.
It is the first time since 2018, when the semiconductor industry was in its early days, that the DRAM sales exceeded 10 billion US dollars, and it has recorded a high growth rate of 44.6%.
The most surprising is the growth of DRAM for smartphones has increased by 30 percent. Mobile accounted for 40.4 of Samsung Electronics’ total DRAM sales last year, which accounted for 45% in 2020 seems to be a clear warning.
Semiconductor foundry which measures semiconductor growth has emerged as the future food for the data centers. This is because the proportion of high-performance computing applied to the data centers is gradually increasing.
This change is due to the opposite growth of the smartphones and data center markets. Smartphone sale has not met the expectations after the COVID-19 pandemic.
