Samsung started releasing the January 2022 security patch update to the Galaxy A40 smartphone users in the European market. The latest OTA comes with new Android and One UI patches for better system stability and reliability.
The new January 2022 One UI security patch brings fixes for different categories of issues and exploits including 2 critical, 36 high, and 5 moderate for better device stability. At the same time, the company also included various SVEs fixes for the eligible models.

In late March, Samsung had updated the Galaxy A40 smartphone to the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 version. Now, this device started to receive a new firmware update with a newer security patch for enhanced system security.
According to the latest information, Samsung has begun improving the security level of the Galaxy A40 smartphone by installing the newer Android and One UI patches released in April 2021.
This update is currently rolling out in France, which bears firmware version A405FNXXU3CUD3. According to the info, April 2021’s security update brings fixes for 30 critical CVEs from Google and 23 CVEs from Samsung.
Other than the security improvements, this update doesn’t include any new feature or major system optimizations. However, the installation of new security updates is necessary as they keep your device protected against various threats.
Apart from this, the company has also started sending the May 2021 security update to the eligible Galaxy devices. So far, the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, and more devices have joined the party with the latest security update.

Samsung Galaxy A52s August 2022 update improves Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and more
Samsung pushed the latest August 2022 security update to the Galaxy A52s smartphone users in Europe. It’s not just a general security patch as it aims to improve important network functionalities including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, alongside.
While the August 2022 patch brings fixes for 36 CVEs from Google, Samsung also included 31 SVE items in order to further ensure system security on the Galaxy devices. The changelog confirms that the Samsung Galaxy A52s August 2022 update improves the stability of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
In Europe, the owners of Galaxy A52s 5G can identify the August 2022 update through PDA version number A528BXXU1CVG7. In Korea, the update became available in a package size of nearly 855MB, therefore, it could be followed for European release as well.

How to download
To get the August 2022 update on your Galaxy A52s manually, you have to open your phone’s System Settings. Once done, head to the bottom of the interface by scrolling down and tapping Software updates, followed by Download and install.
Android 13 testing underway
Recently, it was reported that Samsung is testing the One UI 5.0 Beta, based on Android 13 on the Galaxy A52s device alongside the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy A53. To be noted, that this is taken from firmware information on Samsung’s own server, not officially confirmed.

Twitter user Medbuddy asked Samsung about the Android OS updates support for Galaxy A52s 5G. Samsung UK accidentally confirmed 4 generations of Android updates for the Galaxy A52s and embedded the newsroom post of the new policy.

Samsung Galaxy A52s deserves 4 Android updates
Samsung Galaxy A52s is one of the most famous mid-range Galaxy smartphones that offers top-end features that can easily compete with flagships like Galaxy S20 FE. Then why not expect the same treatment as flagships? Don’t you think Galaxy A52s deserve 4 Android updates?
Samsung has made a major change in its software update policy this year. The company is providing 4 major Android OS upgrades in addition to 5 years of security patch updates to its flagship and some select Galaxy A series phones.
The Galaxy A73, A53, and A33 that were launched this year are eligible for the new software update policy and will get 4 Android updates in the future. On the other side, it is highly expected that the Galaxy A52s will also receive the same treatment of 4 major Android updates.
The Galaxy A52s entered the smartphone market with Android 11-based One UI 3.x OS out of the box. The device later received the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 and One UI 4.1 update earlier this year. Android 13-based One UI 5.0 is the next major switch for the device, while the Android 14-based One UI 6 will be the last.
But users are not satisfied with this treatment of the company when the phone is totally worth 4 for the major Android update. The company should also provide advanced software treatment for select older mid-range phones, such as Galaxy A52, A52s, and A72, as well.
Samsung confirms 4 Android updates for Galaxy A52s:
Recently, a manager of Samsung UK Twitter has confirmed 4 updates, however, it’s not valid. A Galaxy A52s user shared information that his phone has received the August 2022 security patch. In reply to this, Samsung UK reminded him that the A52s support up to 5 years of security updates.
But nothing has changed on the software updates support page for the Galaxy A52. It still mentions 3 major Android OS updates and4 years of security patches.
On the other hand, Samsung has begun stable Android 13-based One UI 5.0 testing for the Galaxy A52s smartphones. At this time, there’s no confirmation on when the update will go live, it’s expected to be released by November or December month this year.
Samsung Galaxy A52 grabbing August 2022 security update
Samsung has begun rolling out the Galaxy A52 August 2022 Android security patch update in Brazil. The update is released for the LTE version of the device while the 5G Galaxy A52 is yet to receive it.
Furthermore, Samsung is releasing the Galaxy A52 August 2022 update with the One UI build version A525MUBU4BVG5. It carries a heavy package size of around 1.1GB, there’s it’s recommended to use an unmetered connection while downloading.
On the other hand, this heavy package suggests that are many noticeable changes waiting inside. However, the official changelog didn’t mention anything besides minor system improvements and some stock app upgrades.
Going by the changelog, the latest update comes with improved system security that will further help in protecting your files from bugs and viruses and will keep your data safe. Whereas, the enhancement in security ensures you seamless performance without any app crashing or lagging.
Moving on, the official changelog for the Galaxy A52 August patch also mentions some stock app upgrades. These apps include Samsung Notes, SmartThings, Samsung Members, Calculator, Smart Switch, and Voice Recorder.
However, what changes these apps are getting is not noted in the changelog. It could be possible that the company is improving the reliability of these applications, at the same time, enhancing some applications’ features to provide users will their best experience.

Despite these changes, Samsung’s August 2022 security patch details mention fixes for over 50 issues and exploits. These vulnerabilities include a fix for a serious Dialer bug that allowed local attackers to access ICCID via logs. It includes SVE-2022-0726(CVE-2022-33724) which harms the native Dialer app.
It’s worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy A52 is eligible for the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 upgrade. At this time, Samsung has only released the first One UI 5 beta for the Galaxy S22 series. The Galaxy A52 is not eligible for the beta version but will get the stable update around November or December.
