New WhatsApp beta adding new timer options for disappearing messages
WhatsApp has been exploring dozens of new features and changes in its instant messaging in recent times. Continuing with this trend, the company is now making new changes to WhatsApp beta users, bringing a new UI of contact information, new disappearing message options, multi-device upgrades, and more.
Many of these features were once seen in WhatsApp APK teardowns, but now that’s when WhatsApp is starting to release itself to beta users (via WABetainfo). First and foremost, the latest beta update brings a new UI screen for contact information. While some beta users have been able to access this new UI since the last beta update, it is now on its way to a wider set of users.
WhatsApp released the disappearing messages on Android and iOS last year, allowing users to send harmful messages after a while. In August, it is learned that WhatsApp was preparing to add 90-day and 24-hour options to the disappearing message feature. These options are now finally being released to users with the latest beta update.
- To enable disappearing messages, go to Settings> Account> Privacy> Default message timer.
Lastly, if you are using a multi-device feature, WhatsApp will no longer send notifications about security code changes every time a list of connected devices is updated. This update was introduced via WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.23.10 and is now out for more users with the latest update.
