Samsung and CJ ENM partnered to build future-oriented video content production studio
On July 26th, Samsung announced a new partnership with CJ ENM, Asia’s leading entertainment and media group after the Oscar-winning film ‘Parasite’, to create a virtual production studio that will lead to future video content production.
Combining its cutting-edge Micro LED technology with CJ ENM’s world-renowned content production for television and film series, Samsung is taking the next step in launching a new and growing virtual reality production market.
Through this partnership, Samsung will offer its state-of-the-art technology, The Wall to CJ ENM’s visual studio, which is part of its television and film production studio scheduled to open in Paju, Korea later this year.

The visual production volume studio will be the first in the world to use unlimited The Wall’s endless LED technology, opening up new opportunities to work on video content production and virtual production solutions. The main display will be placed in an oval shape 20 meters wide and 7 meters high or more, creating a background that looks endless in the content capture.
This virtual production studio will use LED displays and connected cameras to create real-time visual settings. This solution will save time and reduce the cost of photography and landscaping costs while helping filmmakers see the camera in live-action set in any direction.
The Wall’s modular technology allows designers to design areas for their specific needs, enabling a variety of installation options such as roof installation and convex or concave design, depending on the interior design of the studio.
Samsung The Wall’s massive screen measures over 1,000 inches, producing vibrant colors and details based on 16K high content. Dedicated frame measurements for studio production, a new addition to this year’s model, allow producers to use content at frame rates such as 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94Hz, to ensure seamless videos are adapted to the most commonly used camera frames.
“The strategic partnership with Samsung will allow CJ ENM to push forward the creation of a new powerhouse of the next-generation content,” said Ho-sung Kang, CJ ENM CEO. “While CJ ENM is investing $4.4 billion over the next five years in entertainment content, we are taking the lead in building a global No. 1 production studio to become a world-leading entertainment company.”
Both companies expect this collaboration to improve content production opportunities while satisfying various customers by rethinking the production of today’s fast-paced entertainment environment.
