Google tried to kill Samsung Galaxy Store as it’s emerging as a Play Store alternative
Samsung ships every device including phones and tablets with Galaxy Store, its native app store, also an alternative option of the famous Google Play Store. Along with all the applications of the One UI ecosystem, the Galaxy Store also lets users download some exclusive third-party games such as Fortnite.
As the Korean tech giant taking big decisions in order to maintain the crown of the global smartphone market, it has impressively developed the Galaxy Store and it’s now known as the major rival to Play Store. Following the growing popularity, Google reportedly tried to kill Samsung’s Galaxy Store.

According to the info (via TheVerge), an alliance of 36 states’ attorney generals filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, citing that the US tech giant is illegally attempting to control app and game distribution on Android by paying off popular app developers to stop them from listing their apps on Galaxy Store and Amazon Appstore.
Aside from this, the lawsuit also reveals that Google illegally prevented Samsung’s Galaxy Store from becoming a viable competitor. To do that, the search engine giant used revenue share agreements with Android phone makers to not bring custom app stores other than Play Store. And that it made “a direct attempt to pay Samsung to abandon relationships with top developers and scale back competition through the Samsung Galaxy Store.”
“Google felt deeply threatened when Samsung began to revamp its own app store, the Samsung Galaxy Store,” the suit says, and describes Google’s approach to the competing store as “a threat it needed to preemptively quash.”
The blog also reported that Epic Games made the same allegations that Google has attempted to destroy rival app distribution methods in its lawsuit. It claimed Google forced OnePlus to abandon a deal to preload a special Fortnite launcher on its phones, and prevented LG from pre-installing the Epic Games app on its devices.

Young Hyun Jun will now lead Samsung’s semiconductor business. The company today revealed that it named Young Hyun Jun as the new Head of Device Solutions (DS) Division.
President Kyehyun Kyung, who has been leading the DS Division, will become the Head of the Future Business Division as well as the Head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Young Hyun Jun will focus on the DS Division and strengthen Samsung’s position amid an uncertain global business environment. Notably, Jun has extensive experience in the semiconductor and battery businesses.
Samsung hired Jun in 2000 for DRAM and Flash memory development. Later, he became Head of the Memory Business in 2014 and CEO of Samsung SDI in 2017, before leading the Future Business Division in 2024.

Circle to Search feature may be available on the iOS platform this year. In an exciting development, folks over at the Mac Observer discovered that Google is preparing to upgrade Chrome for iOS with Android’s awesome Circle to Search feature.
Chrome for iOS silently added a new “Lens Circle to Search” flag. When enabled, it will likely bring the feature to Apple’s iOS devices. Well, it is expected to be a Lens-powered feature available within the application itself, rather than system-wide integration.
Circle to Search debuted earlier this year with the Galaxy S24 series. It’s developed by Google for Galaxy and Pixel devices. As of now, a number of Samsung and Google devices have access to it. Meanwhile, the expansion may take place to more Android vendors and iOS too.
This feature is literally powered by Google Lens. Thanks to system-wide integration, it feels like a core feature of the Android operating system. Through an app update, Google seems to be planning Circle to Search beyond Android devices.

Samsung today announced its Galaxy Studio Photo registered over 100,000 visits. This significant number of visitors shows that the company’s photo studio setup at Everland theme park is a big hit among millennials.
Last month, Samsung opened Galaxy Studio Photo at Everland. It allows visitors to experience the Galaxy S24 camera and AI features. In just four weeks, the studio has attracted over 100,000 visitors.
At the Studio, visitors can take pictures with various props in a theme park concept studio and then use Samsung’s Galaxy AI’s “Generative Editing” feature to create photos with a mysterious atmosphere.

Visitors can use Galaxy AI features to their fullest by taking pictures of Everland’s various animals and plants with the Galaxy S24’s 10x zoom and then using “Circle to Search” to instantly search for related information.
The Korean firm also running an event at Everland. Here, visitors can experience the various features of Samsung Wallet, with the registering consumers will receive snack exchange coupons for Everland theme park.
“We are delighted that the number of visitors to Galaxy Studio Photo at Everland has surpassed 100,000 thanks to the high interest of consumers in Galaxy AI,” said a Samsung Electronics official. “We hope that more visitors will enjoy the fun experiences that the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy AI have to offer.”
