Samsung may develop own mechanism if Android forces A/B Seamless Updates

Samsung Janaury 2023 update list

Samsung is known to provide its users with a seamless and uninterrupted experience but the Korean tech giant is refusing to adopt Google’s A/B Seamless Updates mechanism. However, now it seems that Samsung could develop its own mechanism if Android continues to force it.

As per the latest input, Android is shifting towards a future where A/B Seamless Updates will be the only supported update mechanism revealed through a comment of AOSP. However, this will make it difficult for Samsung to keep denying seamless updates for its Galaxy devices.

This might bring hope to users, who want seamless update support for their Galaxy devices, but Samsung has some different plans that you can’t think about. It means rather than adopting an Android seamless update, Samsung may develop its own mechanism that will offer its users an ultimate experience.

Mishaal Rahman states,

  • Samsung could still technically avoid using Seamless Updates. The company could develop its own update mechanism for use with its devices, or simply revert Google’s change in affected Android versions.

Seamless Updates

Seamless Update is a feature that allows you to continue to use your phone even during the firmware update installation. The software creates a secondary virtual partition in which the new update installs, completely ending the downtime.
