Samsung released a new service, ‘SmartThings Find’. This service helps users to easily locate any Galaxy devices. It will be available on the Galaxy devices running Android 8 or later.

After a small registration process users can easily find any of their Galaxy devices including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and even individual earbuds.

“Utilizing the latest in BLE and UWB technology, SmartThings Find will make your life less stressful when it comes to searching for misplaced Galaxy devices,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Vice President and Head of SmartThings Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.

Smart Find uses technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra Wide (UWB) to find and locate your missing Galaxy devices. Through its dedicated SmartThings app, this service will help you keep a track of all your devices and also keep them safe.

Works even when your device is offline:

This service will even find your missing device when it is offline. All of your Galaxy devices form a network via the SmartThings app. If your device is offline for more than 30 minutes, it produces a BLE signals that will be received by other nearby Galaxy devices. When you report the SmartThings app about the lost device, then any nearby device will inform the Samsung server about its location, and will then notify you.

Samsung also makes sure that the data such as the location of the device is completely secure and encrypted and no one outsider can access the information.

Find your device with detailed and accurate directions:

With the SmartThings app, you can find your Galaxy device with integrated maps directions. The app provides you two different ways using which you can find your missing device.

Locate it using the AR-based search nearby function, this displays color graphics that increase in intensity when you are getting close to the device. Once you have reached close to your device then you can use the second option, that is ‘ring’. Using these two ways you can easily locate your missing Galaxy device.

Availability:

Samsung will make this functionality available through a Software Update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets running Android 8 or later. Users will be able to access this service by tapping the banner at the bottom of the home screen in the Smart Things app.

Furthermore, the company will also make this functionality available to tracking tags, this will help users locate their favorite items, other than the Galaxy devices.

WhatsApp Status Updates

WhatsApp has introduced a new interface for viewing status updates with the latest update. The fresh beta update is available for Android users with 2.24.10.10 via the Google Play Beta Program. The update brings a redesigned status tray that simplifies how users interact with statuses on WhatsApp.

The revamped design allows users to see a preview of statuses directly in the updates tray. This feature was highly requested after an earlier update changed the layout to a less user-friendly design.

Previously, WhatsApp replaced thumbnail previews with just profile pictures, which users found inefficient for navigating through statuses. Responding to user feedback, WhatsApp has now made it easier to view statuses at a glance without needing to open each one.

The redesigned interface of status updates tray is currently available to a limited number of WhatsApp beta testers and will be rolled out to more users in the upcoming weeks.
