Wear OS 4 Unveiled: Samsung Galaxy Watch will get new apps, features, and Face Format
On May 10, Google officially unveiled the Wear OS 4 wearable operating system, based on Android 13. The new wearable platform brings Watch Face Format, built in partnership with Samsung, allowing developers and designers to easily create high-quality and power-efficient watch faces.
Google’s announcement of the Wear OS 4 launch also comes with two new Google apps for Samsung Galaxy and Pixel smartwatches. The company teased Gmail and Google Calendar applications optimized for your wrist-friendly gadget.
Additionally, the search engine giant revealed that the new Watch Face Format helps the Wear OS 4 become more power efficient, bringing improved battery life. Wear OS 4 will bring even more updates later this year, with new and improved accessibility capabilities like a “faster and more reliable text-to-speech experience.”
Most importantly, Wear OS will also provide backup and restore support, helping you securely transfer data and settings between watches. Moreover, if you’re setting up a watch from your phone, any permissions you’ve granted on your phone will automatically carry over.
It’s worth mentioning that later this year, you’ll be able to access two Google Workspace favorites, Gmail and Google Calendar. Quickly respond to emails in Gmail, check your schedule, view and RSVP to events, and update task statuses in Calendar.
When WhatsApp launches its first-ever smartwatch app in the coming weeks (Beta started), you’ll be able to securely start a new conversation, reply to messages by voice and answer calls from your Wear OS watch — all without taking out your phone.
Three new Spotify tiles are coming soon, so you can easily play new episodes of your favorite podcasts, see what’s in your heavy rotation and jump into a curated lineup of music chosen for you by Spotify’s DJ. Also, you can add the new Peloton tile to track your workout streak and help you reach your fitness goals.

Korea’s Samsung Display and LG Display prep to initiate Apple iPhone 16 Pro display production in the first half. The report states that Apple has reduced the bottom bezel of the display for the upcoming Pro models, which would include the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
According to TheElec, Samsung Display will commence Apple iPhone 16 display production in the first half itself. While the timeline isn’t clear, it’s expected that LG Display is also striving to begin the mass production of panels for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.
Samsung reportedly established an organization earlier this month to strengthen its Apple business. It is reported that the Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology is applied to make the bottom bezel thinner on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.
Samsung Display will likely produce OLED panels for all four models, including two Pro models and the other regular and Plus models. Meanwhile, LG Display plans to produce only two models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, which require a thin bottom bezel.

Samsung just trolled Apple over reports of faulty iPhone alarms. The company’s UK account posted the mockery Reels on Instagram, trolling Apple following reports from some iPhone users regarding the alarms problem.
It isn’t the first time Samsung is making fun of its biggest rival. The Korean tech giant doesn’t have sweet relationships with Apple’s iPhone business, as it’s the biggest rival internationally apart from the US leadership.
“Rest assured our alarms GO OFF,” the company writes (via TechRadar) in its latest meme-based Instagram post, adding in the caption: “Samsung users woke up on time today.”
Samsung has a long history of mocking Apple, which is refreshed with the latest incident. While the Instagram post doesn’t clearly mention Apple or iPhone anywhere, the subject of the meme-based post is a no-brainer.
iPhone Alarms Bug
Due to iOS setting issue, iPhone alarms are not working properly, some Apple users report. The iPhone maker acknowledged the issue saying “an issue causing some iPhone alarms to not play as expected.” The best part is the company is preparing a fix, which should be rolled out soon.
