Samsung One UI 5.1.1

April 2023 security patch rollout has begun for Galaxy devices, while Samsung is testing the One UI 5.1.1 build as well. Last month, initial One UI 5.1.1 test firmware was spotted on the company’s software server, which is now replaced with a new April 2023 build.

The updation of the software build shows that Samsung has progressed on the One UI 5.1.1 development on the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 smartphones. The latest test firmware bears a PDA version number ending DWD1, confirming a new One UI version for both 2022 foldables.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4’s latest One UI 5.1.1 builds belong to South Korea, one of the initial spots of new Samsung software development. The Korean tech giant is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 in August 2023, it’s already readying the new software on existing foldables.

Following the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung released the One UI 5.1 (Android 13) update to various phones including the Z Flip4 and Fold4. Since non-foldable mobiles are not eligible for One UI 5.1.1, the OEM may offer further improvements and optimizations.

One UI 5.1.1 Expected Features

Seeing the company’s habit, we believe, the One UI 5.1.1 software may also focus on enhancing the usability of foldable phones and tablets. The vendor is also focussing on the premium tablet range as people continue to prefer Galaxy tablets in the Android segment.

With One UI 5.1.1, Samsung should further improve the interaction experience with Galaxy devices. It should bring new visual effects to offer an even more natural feel while switching across apps, using the multi-window, split screen, and one-handed mode.

Android 12-based One UI 4.1.1 version also focussed on enhancing the user experience on large-screen devices. This firmware update brought features like Taskbar, enhanced split screen, app pair in the taskbar, improved control window, as well as Extract text to copy content from images.

One UI 3.1.1

In April 2021, Samsung introduced the Android 13-based One UI 3.1.1 software iteration with the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 devices. It later rolled out to older foldable phones and tablets, bringing enhanced productivity functions and improved multi-window features along with apps optimized for large screens.
