Samsung Galaxy A31 gets October 2022 security patch with some One UI app upgrades
Galaxy A31 is the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the October 2022 Android security patch alongside a new software update. This update enhances your phone’s performance as well as upgrades some stock One UI applications.
According to the information, the applications that are getting an update include Samsung Internet, Samsung Members, Calculator, and more. However, what changes these apps are bringing to your Galaxy phone is not mentioned in the changelog. It might be related to their stability and some functionality improvements.

In addition to these, Samsung’s official support page notes fixes for a bunch of privacy and security-related issues and vulnerabilities to provide users with the best possible user experience. These fixes contain 31 CVE and 18 SVE items from Google and Samsung.

Aside from these, improving the security and stability of the system is another aspect that the October 2022 patch focuses on. This helps in protecting your phone from bugs and viruses and prove users with uninterrupted functionality.
It’s worth mentioning that Samsung is releasing the Galaxy A31 October 2022 update with the One UI build version A315GDXU1DVJ2. It’s rolling out in Brazil at this moment however, expected to reach more users in the coming days or weeks.

Furthermore, Samsung is currently working on an Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update and if you are expecting this update for your Galaxy A31, let me tell you that the device is not eligible for it. Recently, the company released the One UI 5.0 update rollout plan for all Galaxy smartphones and tablets and it nowhere mentions the Galaxy A31.
In any case, you can check out the latest software update on your Galaxy smartphone through the Setting page. Once you enter, visit the Software updates section and tap on the Download and install options, the available update will appear on the screen.
Samsung has released an enhanced 4G band support update for its older smartphone models, the Galaxy S7 from 2016 and the Galaxy A5 from 2017. This update is essential for maintaining access to network services, including emergency calls.
The new update ensures that these Galaxy devices remain functional with current 4G networks. Although the update does not provide new features or security enhancements, it is important for continuous network connectivity.
After the enhanced 4G TDD band support update, the firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy A5 have been updated to G930FXXU8EVG3 and A520FXXUGCTKA, respectively.
Currently, the update is available for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy A5 in Europe. However, there is no information about the update for the Galaxy S7 Edge. It is expected that Samsung will extend this update to more models from 2016 onwards.
Samsung is updating older phones to ensure that even older models can stay connected. Users with these models should manually check for updates if they have not received a notification. To install the latest update, you just need to visit Settings >> Software Update >> Download and install.

Samsung Good Lock is a widely used customization app, but users have been facing a functional issue with its start screen behavior. Users have noticed that the app, which used to open on the last tab they viewed, now opens by default on the ‘Terrace’ tab every time it is visited.
This change from the expected behavior was reported by a user who pointed out that the app should remain on the last tab where it was turned off. Instead, the app now consistently starts from the ‘Terrace’ tab, causing minor inconvenience to those who rely on its original functionality.
However, the Samsung community moderator has acknowledged the issue and announced that a solution is underway. The fix will be included in the next update, ensuring that the app will function as intended.
Users of Samsung Good Lock can look forward to the upcoming update, which promises to restore the app’s smart tab selection feature and enhance overall usability.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention! As you said, normal operation is for the last page viewed to be selected first. We will correct this part and have it reflected in the next version release,” said the community moderator.
