Samsung Galaxy S22 charging test suggests 45W input doesn’t seem to satisfy

Samsung Galaxy Charging Situations

Samsung Galaxy S22 series comes with two different types of chargers, a 25-watt adapter for the base S22 model and 45 watts for the S22+ and S22 Ultra. However, testing with both adapters indicates that they do not really differ in total charging time.

According to the test, comparing the time it takes to reach full charge with all the models in the S22 line, it is clear that spending extra money on a 45W adapter is a complete dropping, as all the devices take the same time as shown in the tests.

The tests show that it takes almost an hour for all Galaxy S22 models to reach full charge, regardless of which adapter is used. This is disappointing news as Samsung had similar power adapter issues with the previous Galaxy smartphone.

The company reconsidered its marketing strategy for charging with the S20, so fans expected the 45W chargers on the S22 line to be a sign of progress. Fast-charging mobile power adapters have been in high demand for years as companies continue to improve technology and significantly reduce charging time.

Samsung has lagged behind other major tech companies for many years now, with companies like Xiaomi already having 120W chargers, so the introduction of the 22W adapter into the Galaxy S22 marketing seemed a promising breakthrough.

This is especially frustrating when the charge times of older Samsung devices are essentially the same as those of the S22, which means there aren’t enough battery upgrades on recent models. Obviously, there are other areas where the S22 line illuminates, but fast charging is not one of them.

Samsung might introduce Battery AI with Galaxy S25 next year

One UI 6.1 Battery last charge feature

Galaxy AI has given an edge to Samsung over its rivals internationally. The company won’t let easily go of its impressive streak of artificial intelligence. A new rumor [deleted] suggests Samsung will launch Battery AI features with the Galaxy S25 series next year.

Samsung’s Battery AI tech in Galaxy S25 could eliminate the non-essential tasks to increase the total backup. While rumors suggest no battery capacity boost in next year’s flagships, Samsung is considering AI to join the game and boost Galaxy’s battery efficiency.

Battery AI could be a part of Samsung’s One UI 7.1, powered by Android 15. The feature is expected to increase the overall runtime without affecting the smartphone’s performance. PandaFlash/X claimed that Galaxy users can experience between 5-10 percent increase in the total runtime.

One UI already has battery-related features for backup and optimization. The AI-powered functionality will be even more effective and reliable. There will be drastic changes in terms of battery life between charges as AI will make changes according to usage patterns.

Well, we are quite far away from the Galaxy S25 series launch. Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to introduce the Android 15 Beta Program for the Galaxy S24 series in August this year. Stable One UI 7.0 update will likely start rolling out to Galaxies later this year.

Samsung Galaxy S22 One UI 6.1 AI

Samsung recently started the rollout of the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series in Korea. However, due to lock screen and rebooting issues, the update was temporarily withdrawn and reverted to One UI 6.0. A recent report indicates that the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI features will soon be available for the Galaxy S22 series.

A new test version of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S22 series is under testing in India and Europe. The test build can be identified via the version ending with EXE1, spotted by tipster @tarunvats. It is expected that the Galaxy AI features will be accessible to Galaxy S22 users worldwide soon.

One UI 6.1 update enhances the Samsung Galaxy S22 with several new enhancements and Galaxy AI features such as advanced Motion Photo, Expert Raw Astrophotography support, improved single take, Edit suggestion, generative editing, Studio, and more.

Furthermore, other Samsung flagships like the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 have already received the One UI 6.1 update earlier in May 2024.

Also, Samsung plans to start the Phase III rollout of One UI 6.1 in mid-May 2024, which includes the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A53 models.
