A couple of weeks after beginning the One UI 4 Beta program for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung released the stable Android 12 update for these devices. However, the company did everything in the rush that eventually proved its decision wrong as the stable rollout is suspended for all Galaxy phones.

While Samsung had already halted the stable Android 12 update rollout for the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, a community moderator confirmed that a new One UI 4.0 software is under preparation, which includes a patch from Google as well.

According to the information disclosed by the community moderator, Samsung had found compatibility issues with the Google Play system on some Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices, therefore, the One UI 4.0 update has been halted until the issues get fixed.

What’s inside the statement:

After the One UI 4 update, a problem was found due to compatibility issues with the Google Play system on some devices, so the One UI 4 update has been put on hold for a while.

We are currently taking action after analyzing the content with Google.

We plan to redistribute the One UI 4 update after securing the stability of the device and completely solving consumer inconvenience and errors.

We are currently preparing a revised version of the software, including a Google patch that improves compatibility issues, and testing is in progress.

We will do our best so that stable software can be distributed by completing it as quickly as possible.

Adding to this, the official confirmed that Samsung One UI staff is rapidly working and analyzing the content with Google as part of fixing the issues. In addition, it’s scheduled that the distribution of the new One UI 4.0 update will begin after securing the stability of the device.

  • We can expect, the new One UI 4.0 Official version will be rolled out alongside the January 2022 security patch.

One UI 4 Features:

  • Samsung’s Android 12 update comes with tons of new features such as a redesigned user interface with revamped icons and Material You theming system.
  • In addition, the One UI 4.0 enhances all of the stock apps, adds more lock screen widgets, quick settings toggles to turn off the camera and mic access and more.

Apple’s generative AI to stand out from Samsung Galaxy?

Samsung Apple Canalys q4 2023

Apple seems to have decided to introduce its Generative AI tech this year. During the recent earnings call, Tim Cook talked about generative AI, claiming to have “advantages” that will “differentiate” Apple in the era of artificial intelligence.

Tim Cook also claimed that some “very exciting things” will be shared with customers soon. Apple’s CEO might be linking it with the yearly Developers event that takes place in June. After teasing the advancements next month, the iPhone 16 may ship with AI features.

Galaxy AI is a key reason behind Samsung’s sizzling S24 sales globally. Apple will likely sell high number of iPhone 16 models, thanks to AI’s inclusion. As the company claims, the edge over rivals would be worth watching on how previous companies have missed opportunity.

Apple is reportedly preferring on-device AI features rather than cloud-based. It’s a limited approach against Samsung, which introduced both on-device and cloud-based AI features with the Galaxy S24 series. Well, the industry is likely to benefit from Apple’s entry into the AI era.

  • We continue to feel very bullish about our opportunity in generative AI. We are making significant investments and we’re looking forward to sharing some very exciting things with our customers soon.
  • We believe in the transformative power and promise of AI and we believe we have advantages that will differentiate us in this new era, including Apple’s unique combination of seamless hardware, software and services integration, groundbreaking Apple silicon with our industry leading neural engines, and our unwavering focus on privacy, which underpins everything we create.

Apple slims iPhone 16 Pro bezels, Samsung D preps production

Apple iPhone 16 Galaxy S24 thin-bezel

Korea’s Samsung Display and LG Display prep to initiate Apple iPhone 16 Pro display production in the first half. The report states that Apple has reduced the bottom bezel of the display for the upcoming Pro models, which would include the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.

According to TheElec, Samsung Display will commence Apple iPhone 16 display production in the first half itself. While the timeline isn’t clear, it’s expected that LG Display is also striving to begin the mass production of panels for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

Samsung reportedly established an organization earlier this month to strengthen its Apple business. It is reported that the Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology is applied to make the bottom bezel thinner on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.

Samsung Display will likely produce OLED panels for all four models, including two Pro models and the other regular and Plus models. Meanwhile, LG Display plans to produce only two models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, which require a thin bottom bezel.

Samsung trolls Apple over faulty iPhone alarms

Published

Samsung Apple Canalys q4 2023

Samsung just trolled Apple over reports of faulty iPhone alarms. The company’s UK account posted the mockery Reels on Instagram, trolling Apple following reports from some iPhone users regarding the alarms problem.

It isn’t the first time Samsung is making fun of its biggest rival. The Korean tech giant doesn’t have sweet relationships with Apple’s iPhone business, as it’s the biggest rival internationally apart from the US leadership.

“Rest assured our alarms GO OFF,” the company writes (via TechRadar) in its latest meme-based Instagram post, adding in the caption: “Samsung users woke up on time today.”

Samsung has a long history of mocking Apple, which is refreshed with the latest incident. While the Instagram post doesn’t clearly mention Apple or iPhone anywhere, the subject of the meme-based post is a no-brainer.

iPhone Alarms Bug

Due to iOS setting issue, iPhone alarms are not working properly, some Apple users report. The iPhone maker acknowledged the issue saying “an issue causing some iPhone alarms to not play as expected.” The best part is the company is preparing a fix, which should be rolled out soon.
