Samsung SmartThings survey shows people are ready to live in IoT smart homes in UK

New research from Samsung SmartThings reveals Brits have become more security conscious since the pandemic, with half of Brits experiencing concerns about leaving their homes.

With the rise of new home renovations during the closure, and unexpected purchases last year, a third of Brits said they felt out of control when they left the house feeling discriminated against, and wishing they had more security measures at home.

Despite these concerns, 68% of people did not take steps to protect their homes with similar security systems or technical services, although about half (46%) would like at some point.

New research approved by Samsung SmartThings, a free platform that enables people to monitor and connect their home devices from their smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet, reveals changes in consumer behavior inside and outside the home since the removal of restrictions.

SmartThings has the ability to use devices such as flashing cameras and security cameras from most of the UK’s leading remotely-enabled products, giving people the ability to turn on the lights before arriving home or to show who’s at the door when you’re not there.

Additionally, SmartThings easily integrates with platforms such as Android Auto, which allows people to easily connect to their home from their car so they can set things up on the drive home to get them adopted.

WHatsApp Storage Chat filtering feature

WhatsApp for Android has pushed a new update with version 2.24.10.8, introducing a chat filtering feature for better storage management. This feature is currently in beta testing and available to some beta testers.

The Chat filtering feature of WhatsApp allows users to sort their chats and channels to make it easier to identify and manage storage with large files and vast chat history. With this feature, users can quickly find and delete unnecessary data, freeing up space on their devices by separating conversations.

Previously, WhatsApp had released basic chat filters such as “All”, “Unread”, and “Groups” to help users navigate their chat lists. The new update builds on this functionality to offer better organization of messages and media files.

This new feature is mainly beneficial for distinguishing between business accounts and channels that may have similar names or icons.

WhatsApp’s Chat filtering feature is expected to be made available to more beta testers soon and may be released to all users in a future update.
