Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2 sales ban comes into effect in the US

Published

Apple Watch Series 9

Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are now removed from all US Apple retail stores. This means that US consumers will not be able to buy the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 at Apple retail stores when they reopen after Christmas on December 26.

The older model SE, which is not within the scope of the above ruling, will continue to be sold, and watches previously sold will not be affected by the ban. It is reported that this ban stems from a ruling by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) in October this year.

The ruling found Apple infringed on patents related to blood oxygen sensors on certain versions of the device. In response to this patent dispute, Apple had to take measures to suspend sales of the Watch Ultra 2 and Watch Series 9 in the US.

Although it is unclear how long the ban will last, this decision will undoubtedly bring a big blow to Apple’s loyal fans. For consumers who are looking forward to purchasing the new Apple Watch at Apple retail stores, they may have to purchase the Apple Watch from other channels.

It is worth noting that although Apple’s official website has removed these two watches, other retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy still have stocks. Once these stocks are sold out, consumers will no longer be able to purchase the Watch Ultra 2 and Watch Series 9.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 to unlock painless Blood Sugar tracking with AI

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 March 2024 update

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 could pack an AI-powered Blood Sugar tracking feature. Recently, Samsung’s MX Division head talked about the role of AI-based wearables with Samsung Health advisory committee members, mentioning Blood Sugar tracking.

The discussion this time mentioned the possibility of adding a blood sugar monitoring feature. It is highly likely to be installed in the Galaxy Watch 7, which will be released in July this year. The method is expected to be a non-invasive method that does not cause wounds.

The US Food and Drug Administration has maintained the position that “non-invasive methods are less accurate.” The authority hasn’t also approved such kind of technology, however, Samsung is expected to solve this problem using AI (artificial intelligence).

This year, Samsung is also bringing the first Galaxy Watch Ultra alongside the usual models. The company might keep the Blood Sugar monitoring feature limited to the most premium variant. However, it remains to be seen whether Samsung will ship it this year or not.

“There’s increasing interest in understanding what behaviors affect glucose levels. Since health metrics are interconnected, combining glucose data with sleep, blood pressure and activity level insights initiates profound conversations about individuals’ lifestyles and experiences.” – Dr. Klonoff.
