One UI 6.1 update to bring Generative AI Wallpaper feature to Samsung phones

Samsung Galaxy AI

Google introduced the Generative AI Wallpaper feature with Android 14. Since the new operating system is arriving on eligible Samsung phones, it lacks such a thing. One UI 6.1 update is likely to bring a Generative AI Wallpaper feature to your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

According to TarunVats / X, Samsung fueled Galaxy S24’s exclusive software with more new personalization capabilities. The image posted in the X post indicates new functions in the Wallpaper Services section, probably the Generative AI Wallpaper creator.

Apart from AI Wallpaper, there could be more options for home/lock screen customization. Quoting the X post, reliable Samsung source, IceUniverse pointed out that the new sections are for AI Wallpaper services, which are a part of Galaxy S24’s One UI software.

The South Korean tech giant is expected to begin the One UI 6.1 rollout by the end of February. Select new features from the upcoming Galaxy S24 series will be distributed to older lineups including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S21 alongside recent foldables.

Android 15 features raise concerns for One UI 7

Android 15 One UI 7

Google is rolling out Android 15 for Pixel devices and Android partners will gradually adapt this OS underneath their custom skin but I am particularly curious about Samsung’s One UI 7.

This new Android version brings:

Private space – This will make a personal space in your device and hide sensitive apps. Users can access the private space once the device authenticates via biometrics.

Theft protection – It will prevent an unknown user from accessing a device or sensitive data by requiring authentication. It will prohibit actions such as disabling the SIM or Find My Device.

Improved multitasking for tablets Foldable devices – It has improved app access with the new always show taskbar feature. This will enable the user to stick to the taskbar even during multitasking.

These are some Android 15 and it may have plenty of small tweaks. However, the list of new additions in Android has shrunk so much, which is concerning for Samsung’s offering with the next One UI.

What to expect

At the Developer Conference 2024, Samsung shared some insights on One UI 7 without revealing much of the details.

The South Korean tech maker has announced a new user interface for the next One UI version. Additionally, some new AI capabilities will accompany this new graphical change.

The early hands-on leak has revealed the UI part but the features remain unknown.

With that being said, Android 15 also has a minimalistic array of new additions, which is taking my curiosity about One UI to the next level.

Although Samsung has a huge developer team to introduce new features but the small list of Android 15 features will make it challenging for the company to garner praise for the next software upgrade.

This brings me to which new Android features Samsung will adapt for One UI 7. Will there be only UI or some interesting showcase in the AI section?

We have to search for answers when Samsung releases One UI 7.

Android 15 rollout imminent: Will Samsung’s One UI 7.0 Beta follow soon?

Samsung One UI 7

I know that we all are waiting for the One UI 7.0 update, be it beta or stable, anything. It looks like we might receive some updates, not directly related to One UI 7.0, but related to Android 15, on which Samsung’s next custom skin will be based.

Google has confirmed and is going to start the rollout of the stable Android 15 update, reported across different tech news blogs and social media posts, including accidental confirmations from Google itself on the official blog, which is now retracted. Starting today, the update will gradually become available to all eligible devices across different networks worldwide over the next week.

Well, moving from Android 15, what about the One UI 7.0 – Can we get the early beta program? Let me answer this question below.

According to official announcements, Samsung plans to launch the One UI 7.0 beta program towards the end of 2024. The company hasn’t confirmed an exact date or month, just indicating it’ll be sometime at the year’s end.

Despite what was initially planned for the release schedule, it’s still possible that the One UI 7.0 beta program might launch sooner than expected. Typically, Samsung takes some time after the release of a stable Android version to customize its latest One UI version for the new update. If Samsung sticks to its usual schedule, we could expect a One UI 7.0 beta program announcement soon.

Keep in mind that Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed that the One UI 7.0 beta program will launch simultaneously with the Android 15 rollout.
