South Korea-based AI fabless startup, Rebellions, is gearing up for mass production of data center-specific artificial intelligence (AI) chips using Samsung Foundry’s EUV (extreme ultraviolet ) process at the 5nm level.
BusinessKorea reports that Rebellions completed a mass production contract last week with SEMIFIVE for the Samsung 5-nm AI semiconductor ATOM, with mass production set to commence early next year.
ATOM is known for its industry-leading graphics processing unit (GPU) performance and up to 3.4 times greater energy efficiency compared to equivalent neural network processors (NPU).
Particularly notable is ATOM’s performance in the Global Benchmark, where it outperformed competitors like Nvidia and Qualcomm by 1.4 to 3 times, sparking significant interest.
Earlier this year, Rebellions produced prototypes of ATOM through Samsung Foundry’s “Multi-Project Wafer Service,” which prints various types of semiconductors on a single wafer.
Rebellions is also strengthening its collaboration with Samsung, co-developing the next-gen semiconductor Rebel, specialized for Large Language Models (LLM), which is being developed using Samsung Foundry’s 4-nm process.
Samsung Unpacked 2024: Galaxy S24 Ultra, One UI 6.1 w/ Galaxy AI and Smart Ring – Here’s what to come
Korean media reports revealed that Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 for January 17, 2024. At the event, the company will introduce the Galaxy S24 series phones. At the same time, the One UI 6.1 packed with Galaxy AI and Smart Ring might be launched.
Galaxy S24 Series
Galaxy S24 smartphones will be in the spotlight of Samsung 2024 Unpacked. The lineup will bring three models, with Ultra is going to be the most striking innovation. We’ve heard a lot about these phones’ design and features, with more to come in the future.
One UI 6.1 w/ Galaxy AI
Following the Gauss AI Model’s launch, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI. The company confirmed that the Galaxy AI with innovative features will be heading to the market early next year. It’s almost confirmed that the Galaxy S24’s One UI 6.1 software to equip Galaxy AI features.
As the smart wearable market is growing rapidly, Samsung is expanding its footsteps. The Watch 7 series could arrive in the second half of 2024, the Galaxy Ring may be unveiled alongside the S24 series. Do note that the Ring’s arrival possibility is less as the testing phase is underway.
Samsung Reveals What Its Gauss AI Model (Language, Code and Image) Can Do!
On November 8, Samsung launched its own-developed Gauss AI model. Moving ahead, the company has now demonstrated the AI model at SDC Korea 2023. At the event, Samsung explained Gauss AI, which includes three models: Language, Code, and Image.
Samsung Gauss Language model learns a language model through massive training data, allowing the selection of a language model of an optimal size for various situations. Apart from Korean, it supports English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.
Samsung Gauss Image model was learned from safe data that does not infringe on licenses or personal information and is designed to operate on-device, so it has the advantage of preventing user information from being leaked to the outside.
The South Korean tech giant has also discussed the Gauss Code in depth, delivering productivity improvement in in-house software development. In addition, the keynote included presentations on Samsung product advanced research technology and customer experience improvement, including:
- Knowledge graph-based data intelligence
- Mobile Galaxy UI features and advantages
- Development direction of the Tizen platform
- Enhancing the connection experience of Tizen-based screen products
Samsung just revealed the S24’s first Galaxy AI feature and it’s mind-blowing!
Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy AI, which will fuel artificial intelligence capabilities in upcoming mobile devices. In its press release, Samsung revealed the AI Live Translate Call feature, powered by Galaxy AI, which will debut with the Galaxy S24 series.
AI Live Translate Call
One of the Samsung Galaxy AI-powered generative AI capabilities is the AI Live Translate Call feature. It will be derived from on-device AI and incorporated into the Samsung Phone app.
Audio and text translations will appear in real-time as you speak, making calling someone who speaks another language about as simple as turning on closed captions when you stream a show.
Galaxy AI is Samsung’s most comprehensive intelligence offering to date, and it will change how we think about our phones forever. It delivers breakthrough experiences that empower real connections and open up new possibilities right from your phone.
