Samsung Galaxy Watch5 update installs menstrual cycle tracking feature

Samsung starts rolling out a new firmware update to the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro, which installs the period tracking feature. Technically, the update adds skin temperature measurement to Watch’s existing calendar-based Cycle Tracking feature.
After installing the latest update, Galaxy Watch5 series smartwatch users can get deeper insights to manage their menstrual cycles and overall health. Starting April 19, Samsung has started the period tracking feature rollout to the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro via Health app update.
The company revealed that the Galaxy Watch5’s Cycle Tracking feature is powered by Natural Cycles. It enables users to track skin temperature changes, and a good estimate of basal body temperature, during sleep right from their wrist.
Samsung’s latest smartwatch lineup is equipped with infrared technology, offering more accurate readings, even if the conditions of surroundings change. And advanced Cycle Tracking helps users track ovulation and better predict when their next period will begin.
“The new infrared temperature sensor on Galaxy Watch5 broadens our whole health offerings, providing more convenient ways to track and understand personal health,” said Hon Pak, Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics.
