Google Pixel Watch Wear OS 6

Google introduced the Wear OS 6 upgrade with Material 3 Expressive design and Gemini integration. The next wearable platform is set to elevate the smartwatch experience with Google’s new design language and AI assistant.

On top of that, Wear OS 6 brings smoother animations, better battery life, and enhanced personalization. Samsung announced Gemini for Galaxy Watch is coming later in 2025, while the Expressive design will be deployed gradually.

The design of Wear OS 6 focuses on the round display of smartwatches. Scrolling animations trace the curvature of the screen, creating a fluid feel. As you scroll, lists animate to add depth, making information easier to access and navigate.

Using the pin pad or controlling media now feels more responsive, thanks to updated motion and feedback by Material 3 Expressive. Shape-morphing elements adapt smoothly to the smaller screen, ensuring a seamless experience.

Dynamic color-theming is a standout feature. The theme you pick for your watch face will apply across the entire system, creating a unified look. Wear OS 6 also introduces glanceable buttons that stretch to fit the display.

In addition, Wear OS Tiles are more engaging, offering quick access to actions like texting contacts or starting workouts. Google has optimized Wear OS 6 for better performance, delivering up to 10% more battery life.

Google also disclosed that more design enhancements are in the works with partners. Pixel devices, including the Pixel Watch, will get these updates first later in 2025. Galaxy devices would also be treated as a priority, along with Pixel phones.

Samsung acquires HVAC leader FlaktGroup to boost data center, AI infrastructure push

Samsung Brand

Samsung is making a major move into the fast-growing global HVAC market by acquiring FlaktGroup, Europe’s largest air conditioning equipment company. On May 14, Samsung signed a deal to buy full shares of FlaktGroup from Triton for €1.5 billion.

FlaktGroup, headquartered in Herne, Germany, brings over a century of technological expertise in providing high-efficiency HVAC systems. It makes reliable and energy-efficient cooling and air systems for many types of buildings, such as hospitals, data centers, airports, museums, and factories.

These systems help control temperature, humidity, and air quality, which are important for safety and comfort. Last year, it was awarded the DCS Cooling Innovation of the Year for its contributions to advanced cooling solutions.

Now, Samsung is acquiring FlaktGroup to expand its fast-growing data center cooling market. Data centers, which store and process large amounts of data, need powerful and efficient cooling systems to run safely. FlaktGroup’s cooling products help reduce energy use and support companies’ environmental goals.

Samsung also plans to combine its smart building system (b.IoT) with FlaktGroup’s control system (FläktEdge). Together, they can offer complete solutions for managing air systems and saving energy in buildings.

The HVAC market is growing quickly. Research says it could increase from $61 billion in 2024 to $99 billion by 2030. The data center cooling segment of the market is growing even faster, at 18% each year, due to new technologies like AI and robotics.

In addition to this, Samsung has also made other moves to grow in this area. Back in May 2024, it formed a partnership with Lennox International to sell more HVAC products in North America.

Samsung aims to deploy the Gemini AI upgrade across different device segments to create a harmonious ecosystem. The company notes that the Gemini experience becomes even more seamless when used with Galaxy Buds.

Gemini can be summoned by voice commands or “pinch and hold” controls on Galaxy Buds. Once triggered, the assistant will let you smoothly interact with your Galaxy device, providing an intelligent experience at your fingertips.

Samsung has been a long-standing leader in the Android world with Google’s unwavering support, and Android 16 will add a new chapter to this partnership. To create new excitement, both companies have now confirmed that One UI 8 launching this summer.

Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem, shared a couple of new details about the Android 16 and upcoming changes to the entire device ecosystem while announcing that Samsung is bringing its major update right after the Pixel phones.

“We can’t wait to show you, what lies ahead, including amazing new phone factors. This summer the all new Android 16 will be coming to Samsung devices.” said Minseok Kang, VP and Head of Smartphone Planning, Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has been notorious for keeping itself isolated from Google’s beta program. We saw that most of its competitors, including Chinese, always takes the front slot in the beta testing, but that wasn’t the case with the Korean tech company.

Instead, Samsung choses a separate date and venue to launch new One UI versions. This practice is followed for years, and this decision is heavily influenced by SDC, its annual developer conference. It used to pick Fall for the SDC showcase, but things are now different thanks to Google.

In 2025, Google has increased the pace for new Android version development. That means, we’ll see Android 16 rollout somewhere next month for Pixel phones. That’s way ahead of the October 2025 revelation for Android 15 and how we can forget what happened to One UI 7 beta, which slipped to Winter and stable rollout in Spring 2025.

For now, Google and Samsung have refrained from name-dropping One UI 8 for summer. Instead, Android 16 ruled in these statement, which makes sense because ongoing I/O 2025 event.

Previous reports indicate that One UI 8 will be an incremental software release and come with UI as well as feature refinement. The company more focused on increasing UI visibility and correcting issues found in One UI 7. We also saw some new optimizations to app design in line with this optimization goal that will be making a way to users.

One thing to note that Samsung has already started One UI 8 development for public test and the closest unveiling is expected to be July. However, the past rollout problems and delays are keeping us cautious, and we’ll be waiting for an official announcement in this matter. So, stay tuned to know more about the One UI 8 beta launch.
