Samsung Galaxy S23 April 2023 UI Update: New animation, volume panel tweaks
Samsung has recently started the April 2023 update rollout to the Galaxy S23 series in Europe, which also brings UI tweaks, spotted by @Vetrox360. The latest firmware installs a new animation effect in the App Drawer interface, while the Volume Panel brings back the Dynamic Color feature.
Both UI tweaks can be easily noticed on your Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone, after installing the April 2023 update. Since the software is available in South Korea and Europe so far, we expect the US availability by this week on both carrier-locked and unlocked channels.
Samsung Galaxy S23 UI Tweaks April 2023
App Drawer Animation:
April update added a new cool animation, which becomes visible when you uninstall an application from your smartphone. As soon as you trigger an app uninstall, the icon smoothly disappears from the App Drawer and the next app icon takes a prior place to fill the gap.

Volume Panel:
With the One UI 5.1 update, Samsung mistakenly removed the Volume Panel’s ability to paint itself in Dynamic Color theming, derived from app icons and home/lock screen wallpaper. April’s OTA fixes the mistake and Volume Controls now again adopted the Material You design language.
Smoother Visuals and Animation:
Apart from camera improvements, Galaxy S23 series users also reported that the overall UI now feels a bit smoother. The visual effects now have better functionality, while additionally smoother animation takes the user experience to the next level.

When can we expect One UI 7 Beta 2?
Owners of the Galaxy S24 series have joined the One UI 7 Beta Program. Samsung dropped the One UI 7 Beta 1 in four countries last week. Now, Samsung’s Beta participants are awaiting the release of One UI 7 Beta 2.
The first Beta lets users experience the brand-new software. Beta Program brings early access to smoother animations, fluid, and natural transition effects, new Galaxy AI features, and software innovations from Samsung.
One UI 7’s first Beta has some bugs that should be addressed soon. The company has also acknowledged some consumer complaints about the Beta firmware. We expect a pretty improved experience with the second Beta update.
When to Expect the One UI 7 Beta 2
- Expected to be released on December 16.
One UI Beta hasn’t yet launched in India and Poland. Previously, the One UI 7 Beta was rumored to start on December 12 in India. Meanwhile, Samsung delayed the Program’s expansion without revealing the reason.
Now, the Beta Program is scheduled to be kicked off on December 16, 2025. It is expected that Samsung will drop the second Beta for initial Beta participants around the One UI 7 Beta expansion to the consumers in the remaining markets.
One UI 7 Beta 2 – What to expect?
- Smoother animations, fluid transitions
- Enhanced performance and lesser app incompatibility
- Bug fixes and overall user experience improvements
Samsung will improve the animation and transition effects in the next Beta updates. Galaxy users can expect smoother and more natural system animations in the second Beta. However, the overall improvements will be included in the final version.
The lock screen blur system is also buggy in the initial Beta update. The overall design is just stunning but the notification cards on the lock screen skip adapting the same blur effect, leaving the overlay colored White with transparency.
Some Good Lock modules and Android Auto are not compatible with the One UI 7 Beta. The software has gained support for Good Guardians. The app incompatibility will be addressed with further Beta updates gradually.

Disappointed users rated 1 star for Samsung Members app in India after One UI 7 beta delay
Samsung India has called for a delay in the One UI 7 (Android 15) beta program launch. This decision led to community-wide disappointment among Galaxy S24 users and a sudden backlash.
The One UI beta program enables Galaxy smartphone users to test the latest software features ahead of the full (stable) release. On December 5th, the phone maker opened this beta activity for US, German, and Korean users.
Models from the Galaxy S24 series – standard, plus, and ultra can sign up for the beta program via the Samsung Members app to download the beta software.
Besides these three markets, Samsung also announced an expansion to India and Poland. The beta software for India markets was projected for December 12th, confirmed by the customer service representatives.
“The Galaxy S24 series Beta UI 7 update is expected to be released on December 12th,” replied Samsung India in a customer query chat.
Earlier today, the company modified this information, informing customers that the date has now changed to December 16th.
Samsung has shared no reason behind this delay, leading to a disappointment shower from Galaxy S24 users.
Some Galaxy S24 owners in India even reached the Google Play and Galaxy Store to mark a 1-star rating for the Samsung Members app to show their disappointment with the One UI 7 beta delay.
“Samsung India, your negligence and disregard for Indian customers is appalling. You promised us timely software updates, but instead, you’ve left us in the dark. The delayed One UI 7 Beta rollout is a slap in the face to loyal customers like myself.” wrote a user while rating the Samsung Members app on December 12.
“India waiting for One Ul 7 beta for a very long time and u keep postponing always it’s not fair at all so half star in behalf of all users,” wrote another.
The majority of Galaxy owners allege Samsung is not prioritizing Indian users for One UI beta program despite the large user base. Meanwhile, the company has yet to respond on this matter.
