Galaxy A53 joins Samsung flagships with March 2023 security update
Starting last week, Samsung released the March 2023 security update to a bunch of Galaxy flagship smartphones. Now the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A53 is joining those flagship phones with its latest March 2023 Android security patch update.
Samsung has presently rolled out the Galaxy A53 March 2023 update in European countries, with customers living in the United Kingdom getting the opportunity to install it first. The company should cover other countries with the new Galaxy A53 SMR in the coming days.

This security patch update primarily focuses on improving the security and privacy of your device. At the same time, it ensures that you get seamless and errorless performance on your device with optimized system stability.
Moreover, the March 2023 security maintenance release for Galaxy devices patches more than 60 vulnerabilities. These include 23 Galaxy-specific Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures.
The company resolved issues with Settings, SystemUI, Bluetooth, Galaxy Themes Service, Exynos baseband, Samsung Keyboard, Call application, and many other One UI apps, services, and components. Some of these flaws allowed local attackers to access protected data or sensitive information without proper permission.
Other than these SVEs, the fresh update also includes 40-odd patches as part of Google’s latest Android Security Bulletin. Five of these flaws were described as Critical, and some of them enabled the execution of the remote code and paved a way for attackers without taking control of an affected device.

The Korean firm is releasing the Galaxy A53 March 2023 update with One UI built version A536BXXS5CWB6 in Europe. You can now head over to the Software update menu through system Settings and tap the Download and install option to get access to this update.

Samsung Galaxy S23 series getting October 2024 security update in the US
Samsung has begun releasing the October 2024 security update for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones. The update is rolling out in the US and the company will soon make it available in more countries.
Users of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series are getting the October 2024 security update in the US through One UI builds given below.
- Galaxy S23 – S911USQS4CXI4
- Galaxy S23 Plus – S916USQS4CXI4
- Galaxy S23 Ultra – S918USQS4CXI4
The fresh update brings fixes for some issues that users encountered in previous versions to make your Galaxy S23 more stable and secure. The installation package size of this update is around 400MB.
October 2024 security update brings important fixes from both Google and Samsung, addressing vulnerabilities in the Android operating system and Samsung’s software. Google fixes 2 critical and 28 high-level issues, with 1 previously resolved and 2 not affecting Galaxy devices.
On the other side, Samsung resolves 12 specific vulnerabilities related to system services and Knox security. Additionally, Samsung Semiconductor has enhanced performance with a fix for 1 high-level issue.
The update is currently available for locked models and the company will expand it soon to unlocked ones. It is a gradual rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all models.
To check the update, you just need to navigate to the device’s Settings, then a Software update, and Download and install. If you have received the update, install it now to get enhanced features.

Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra users are getting an October 2024 security update in Canada. This update improves system security and stability to enhance the overall performance.
Users of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in Canada can verify the October 2024 security update via the One UI builds given below.

The latest security patch includes critical updates from both Google and Samsung. Notably, Google’s patch resolves 2 critical vulnerabilities and 28 high-level issues, although one was previously addressed, and two do not apply to Galaxy devices.
