Samsung Electronics President Roh Tae-moon has bought another 3,000 shares of the company worth 630 million won, showing his confidence in the company at a time when investors are worried about its stock performance.

According to a disclosure filed with the Financial Supervisory Service on November 6, Roh bought the shares at 210,000 won each through an open-market transaction. The total value of the purchase was 630 million won.

After the latest purchase, Roh’s total shareholding in Samsung Electronics increased from 124,280 shares to 127,280 shares, marking a rise of around 2.4%.

This is not the first time Roh has invested in the company’s shares this year. In July, he bought 3,045 shares at 230,000 won per share. His latest purchase further increases his investment in Samsung Electronics.

The move comes as Samsung Electronics faces pressure in the stock market. It is raising concerns among shareholders about the company’s future performance.

Roh’s decision to buy more shares is being seen as a sign of his confidence in the company’s future. It may also help improve investor confidence, as the purchase shows that one of the company’s top leaders is willing to invest his own money in the business.

However, the purchase does not guarantee that the company’s share price will rise. Investors will continue to watch its business performance and future growth.

OLED iPad Air is coming; Samsung to dominate Apple tablet display supply

Apple iPad Mini OLED

Apple is expanding its iPad tablet lineup in 2027, adding a new iPad Air, and Samsung Display is set to dominate the OLED display supply chain.

South Korean media outlet ZDNet reported that Apple is launching a new tablet model, iPad Air, in the second half of the next year, with Samsung Display expected to be one of the primary suppliers of the OLED panels.

Back in 2024, the Cupertino firm debuted the OLED iPad Pro in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The company added a new iPad Mini model this year, featuring an 8.5-inch OLED. Now, Apple is ready for another expansion with iPad Air in 2027.

Next year’s shipment forecasts for each OLED iPad model are as follows:

  • Pro: 3 to 4 million units
  • Mini: 4 to 5 million units
  • Air: 4 to 5 million units

The panel suppliers for each model are:

  • Pro: LG Display, Samsung Display
  • Mini: Samsung Display
  • Air: Samsung Display, BOE

For total iPad OLED volume next year, Samsung Display is widely expected to secure the largest share, while LG Display is expected to lead in panel volume for the top-tier iPad Pro OLED. BOE is aiming to supply OLED panels for one of the two Air models, though its technical capabilities remain a variable.

While expanding the OLED iPad lineup, Apple is maintaining clear specification differences between the Pro models and the Mini/Air models. A two-stack tandem OLED with two emitting layers is used for the Pro, whereas a single-stack OLED with a single emitting layer is used for the Mini and Air.

Thin-film transistor (TFT) also differs: Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) is exclusive to the Pro, while the Mini and Air feature Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon (LTPS), which has lower specifications than LTPO.

India clears Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S27 for launch

Samsung Galaxy S26

Samsung’s next-generation flagship phone has crossed a crucial regulatory milestone. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially granted approval for the Galaxy S27, bearing the model number SM-S952B/DS, in India.

The certification (spotted by AndroidTreasure) marks the first formal regulatory clearance for the entry-tier Galaxy S27 line within the region, signaling that supply chain validation is advancing ahead of early 2027 market availability.

While BIS documentation rarely publishes granular hardware metrics, the listing confirms dual-SIM capabilities for the regional variant and establishes a timeline consistent with Samsung’s historical release cycles.

The regulatory paper trail provides critical context when cross-referenced with recent international database entries. Documentation filed with NBD previously tied the SM-S952B identification to a 6.3-inch display footprint.

Crucially, those filings indicated that Samsung intends to equip the standard model with its in-house Exynos 2700 processor, complemented by a baseline configuration of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The choice of chip architecture suggests Samsung is maintaining its dual-sourcing strategy, reserving regional silicon for select Asian and European markets while maintaining alternative platform arrangements elsewhere.

Certification disclosures from China’s 3C authority, coupled with safety filings at UL Solutions, confirm the SM-S952B supports 25W fast charging, prioritizing battery longevity and thermal mitigation over peak charging speeds.

Early regulatory clearances of this nature typically precede mass assembly operations by approximately two to three months.

By securing clearance from Indian regulators in early November, Samsung retains full operational flexibility to meet global logistics timelines, keeping its core product roadmap intact as component production scales up across partner facilities.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is preparing a new feature for Android users that will let them read messages without opening a chat. This feature will make it easier to check new messages and manage conversations directly from the chat list.

With this feature, users will be able to tap and hold a chat to see a preview of the latest messages. They will not need to open the conversation to read them. The Android version will also allow users to scroll through the preview and read more messages.

Along with the message preview, WhatsApp will show a menu with different options. Users will be able to mark a chat as read, pin it, archive it, select it, or delete it. By tapping “More options”, they will also be able to lock a chat, add it to a list, view chat information, and add the chat to their phone’s home screen.

The most useful part of this feature is that users will be able to read new messages without marking the chat as read. This means they can check messages without updating read receipts. The chat will only be marked as read when they open the conversation normally.

WhatsApp is still working on this feature, and it is not available to beta testers or regular users yet. The company has not shared an official release date.

The feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.44.11 update, available on the Google Play Store. It is expected to arrive in a future WhatsApp Android update for everyone.
