When Huawei and Apple launched their latest 2022 flagships with satellite communication, everyone started to speculate that Samsung could also bring the same technology with its Galaxy S23 series. Earlier, it was rumored that the Galaxy S23 may feature satellite communication, another report emerges with new inputs.
According to the information, Samsung is internally conducting technology development to bring satellite communication features to the upcoming Galaxy S23 series smartphones. The company is reportedly working with Iridium to introduce smart satellite communication features such as image sharing.
Iridium, which reportedly collaborated with Samsung, provides voice and data communication services in space by utilizing 66 low-orbit communication satellites (LEO). And it looks like, Samsung may finally overcome the challenges such as antenna (RF) enlargement to enable satellite communications.
Samsung could beat Apple and Huawei
Apple partnered with Global Star to offer satellite connectivity features on the iPhone 14 models. At the same time, the Chinese company Huawei uses BeiDou satellites to incorporate satellite communication features.
Since Huawei and Apple became the initial manufacturers to introduce smartphones with satellite connectivity, Samsung appears to be bringing true satellite communication with features never seen before.
Apple’s satellite communication is limited to sending rescue requests in emergency situations, while Huawei allows you to send and receive limited text messages using satellites. Well, the report suggests Samsung may allow even image sharing via satellite.
The same report cites that the South Korean tech giant is testing several features via satellite connectivity that are not limited to text messaging, rescue requests in emergencies, and low-quality image sharing.

Researchers discover critical Mali threats in Samsung Exynos phones
Among the discovered vulnerabilities, one can lead to kernel memory corruption. Not that all, but the other threats can leak physical memory addresses, and three others can lead to a physical page us-after-free condition.
In general, if your Samsung Exynos device is affected by any of these Mali vulnerabilities/threats, an attacker who executes native code in an app can gain full access to the system and bypass the permission model of the OS.
Google’s Project Zero team in their blog post said that these vulnerabilities can let attackers continue reading and writing physical pages after returning to the system.
Notably, Google’s Project Zero team initially discovered these flaws while investigating Pixel 6 devices. Thankfully, all the Snapdragon processor-powered Galaxy models are unaffected by these vulnerabilities.
Back in July, ARM spotted these Mali-related security flaws, however, any smartphone maker didn’t patch to address them. As Project Zero has finally discovered the issue in Android, hopefully, the patches will be coming next month.
Apart from Samsung, ARM-made Mali GPUs are also used in Xiaomi and OPPO smartphones. Hence, some of the Xiaomi and OPPO devices could also be affected by these Mali-related security flaws.
