Samsung collaborating with NAVER Cloud to launch Korea’s first private 5G network!

Samsung Electronics and Naver Cloud have recently announced that both have come together to switch to South Korea’s first private 5G network. This new facility is to be deployed at NAVER’s new second headquarters.
Samsung network solution is going to support NAVER’s private 5G commercial service to provide a cloud-based autonomous mobile robot this month. This is going to be the first of its kind.
Samsung has signed a memorandum of understanding with NAVER for the 5G network collaboration. Both of them have come together to develop the new business model and expand the 5G network worldwide.
This facility is created to provide convenient services to employees throughout the building. NAVER Cloud operated the worldwide IT infrastructure and enterprise solutions for NAVER and its subsidiaries.

Providing the joint facility at the NAVER’s headquarter is just an initial experiment to test and explore the technologies of the future, where cloud service is playing a major role.
What are NAVER’s cloud-based mobile robots?
NAVER’s autonomous mobile robot serves the purpose and leverages both NAVER and Samsung. The robot will be serving as an assistant for employees.
These robots provide convenience services, such as delivering a package, tea, coffee, and lunch box throughout the whole building.
There is a total of 40 robots deployed at the headquarter, with a plan to expand them to hundreds of them at each and every corner of the 36-floor building.
These robots do not have built-in chipsets but they are connected to Samsung’s private 5G network, which actually works as a neural network for all of them.
Benefits:
- NAVER Clouds can instruct and control thousands of robots in a single time.
- The technologies like 3D/HD mapping and AI are applied to let the robot learn the way inside the building, and avoid a delivery mess.
- The heavy upload and download provided by Samsung doubles the capability of those AI-powered robots to have fast enterprise uploads, quick rooting, and instructions.
So, we can say that Samsung has successfully pioneered the delivery system, along with chipset, radios, and core technology. Further, this technology could provide a better network solution to mobile operators worldwide.

Samsung boasted its ‘Go Paper-free’ Initiative in India

In the last 12 months, Samsung Service Centers in India have saved over 17 million sheets of paper, thanks to its “Go Paper-free” Initiative. In the last two years since the launch of the initiative, more than 33 million sheets of paper have been saved till now.
The company’s service centers across the country had gone paperless as part of a global initiative to offer customers an eco-conscious alternative to paper documents. Samsung also boasted that India was one of the first countries to adopt the paper-free system with more than 11,000 service centers in 180 countries.
The pilot project that was kicked off in July 2021 across the country has given a sustainable solution to customers. Apart from the savings in paper usage, what this means for customers is faster transactions at the Samsung service centers and contact-less exchange between consumers and service executives.
“Our service centres across India have followed paperless operations that offer an eco-conscious alternative for two years now. This brings in a lot of convenience for customers as it reduces transaction time and they no longer need to take care of physical documents,” said Sunil Cutinha, Samsung India VP.
All documents previously issued to customers on paper are now being shared over email and WhatsApp, saving 1.5 million A4-sized sheets of paper a month. This also includes replacing internal office work documents at service centers with electronic documents.
Through the global campaign, Samsung expects that approximately 6 million liters of water, 1 will be saved each year. In addition, nearly 526 tons of carbon emissions will be reduced, which can be translated into the amount of carbon absorbed by 61,000 30-year-old pine trees in a year.
