Samsung launched OLEDEra, dedicated website for foldable displays

Samsung Flex OLED display

Samsung’s technology with foldable screens is unmatched in the market now. The same can be said of its standard OLED panels for laptops/notebooks. To better demonstrate its capabilities in the display industry, Samsung has now introduced a dedicated site that explains its compact display.

The company’s flexible OLED screens are officially known as “Flex OLED” on the website. Clicking on this option displays a small category of displays, including Flex Bar, Flex Note, Flex Square, Rollable Flex, and Slidable Flex.

Starting with Flex Bar, this screen is designed for clamshell devices as the company’s Galaxy Z Flip series. Meanwhile, the Flex Note refers to folding screens intended for portable laptops, and Flex Square is what we see on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Rollable Flex and Slidable Flex screens are ideas under development right now. Competitive manufacturer LG uses rolling screens in its OLED TV R Signature lineup.

At the time, slidable screens made headlines this year after OPPO introduced the OPPO X concept a few months ago. However, the phone does not seem to be launching anytime soon. It is clear that Samsung Display’s ambitions are very high, and a new website shows that.

The company claims that its flexible OLEDs offer high brightness, low folding radius (R1.4), and HDR1 + support. In addition, Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) technology reportedly provides better screen protection than competitors’ offerings.

Samsung also claims that its foldable displays can survive up to 200,000 folders. This is about 100 folds/unfolds displays each day for five years. In short, the company wants the world to know that its foldable or Flex OLED screens can withstand the test of time.

Although the company has just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3, we are already learning about its successor. One report suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 may be cheaper than its predecessor. So we can get into 2022 which is very exciting.

Samsung’s new all-solid-state batteries will power future Galaxy devices

Published

We have been hearing about the EV-like battery’s arrival on mobile devices. It was reported that Samsung could first bring the new battery tech in wearables. Indeed, Samsung’s all-solid-state batteries will boost future Galaxy devices.

Developments indicate at imminent launch of all-solid-state and pure silicon batteries. The new all-solid-state batteries will debut with Samsung’s future mobile devices. The mass production is expected to commence by 2026.

You may have heard about Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ achievement of successfully developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. These batteries replace flammable liquid electrolytes with solid ones, enhancing safety and reducing many risks.

Apart from Samsung, a North American firm is also said to be working on pure silicon batteries. This technology only uses silicon for the anode as part of promising significantly increased battery life and reduced charging times.

Samsung Solid-State Battery

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has a lead…

The Korean tech giant recently announced the successful development of oxide-based ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. Samsung has also supplied prototypes to key customers for evaluation before commercializing into consumer products.

Notably, Samsung is the world’s first firm that has achieved the milestone of developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. As mass production is expected in 2026, we assume the Galaxy Watch 9 series could boast new all-solid-state batteries.

All-solid-state batteries are cells, which replace liquid electrolytes with non-flammable solids. Samsung is pushing for applications in wearable devices that closely adhere to the body, such as smartwatches and earbuds.
