Samsung launches 980 PRO with integrated Heatsink for next-gen gaming performance

Published

on

Samsung’s NVMe SSD 980 PRO Heatsink will be available in stores from early November 2021, this is to add more joy for gaming fans whether on the console or on the PC. In this way, an innovative driver in the SSD sector is offering its 980 PRO with its heated sink.

Samsung has developed the 980 PRO Heatsink in just three months and is focusing heavily on heavy-duty gaming users pushing PCs and consoles to their limits.

Although there is an integrated heat sink, the 980 PRO has a small design with a length of 8.6 mm. It is therefore recommended not only for the Playstation 5 but also for desktop PCs and laptops, up to 8.8 mm according to the standard PCI-SIG D8.

On both sides, Samsung is addressing heavy users with a new variety: Extensive playing times can be longer and set higher demands on PC and console. The 980 PRO with the heatsink is designed to demand gaming performance and shows good performance at low temperatures in the case of Samsung testing.

In addition, the new SSD from Samsung can reduce PC fan performance and game consoles, so users can focus on playing without unnecessary background noise.

Technical specifications, prices, and availability

The 980 PRO Heatsink comes with a PCIe 4.0 interface and, like the 980 PRO, delivers consecutive read and write speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s or 5,100 MB/s.

It doubles as NVMe SSDs for 3rd generation PCIe and reaches 12.7 times faster than SATA SSDs. This also makes the 980-PRO series from Samsung attractive where high performance is required – in addition to games, for example, and in graphic design and craftsmanship.

The SSD 980 PRO Heatsink will be available for 1 TB and 2 TB capacity from the beginning of November 2021. Recommended retail price per volume (RRP, from October 2021, including 19% VAT).

  • Samsung SSD 980 PRO Heatsink 1 TB: € 219.90
  • Samsung SSD 980 PRO Heatsink 2 TB: € 419.90
