Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S21 getting June 2021 security patch update in the US

Samsung Galaxy S21 became the world’s first smartphone lineup to get the June 2021 security patch, even before Google Pixels. Later on, more Galaxy flagships such as Galaxy S20, S10, Note 20, Note 10, as well as some mid-rangers had also joined the party with the latest security update.

Now, the South Korean tech giant pushed a new firmware update for the Galaxy S21 series devices in the US, which installs the latest Android and One UI patches released in June 2021. Do note that the update is rolling out for the carrier unlocked Galaxy S21 phones.

It bears firmware versions: G998U1UES3AUE3, G996U1UES3AUE3, and G991U1UES3AUE3 for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 respectively. Samsung has recently detailed this patch, which brings fixes for 47 CVEs from Google and 19 SVEs from Samsung.

After the unlocked variants, Samsung and the US carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint will soon release the June 2021 security patch to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 10, and all the other Galaxies, as per their eligibility.

Coming back, the latest Galaxy S21 series software update changelog doesn’t show any new features or major system optimizations except for the security improvements. However, the S21 line smartphone users will be the first to get the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 Beta and Stable update later this year.

How to check for updates manually?

• Open device Settings
• Select the Software updates menu
• Tap on Download and install.
