Google Chrome (Android) will soon get RSS-powered ‘Follow’ button and feed
Google is currently holding its annual developer’s conference, better known as Google I/O, and continuously introducing new products, services, and more. The company also announced the Android 12, which is the latest mobile phone operating system, could release for general users in September 2021.
Apart from this, the search engine giant exposed several upgrades and reimaginations over its countless products such as Maps, Assistant, Android Auto, and so on. Now, according to 9To5Google, Google is testing a new “Follow” function in the latest Chrome browser on Android, which can realize the integration of RSS readers.
A new “Follow” button can be found in the menu bar when the user opens the webpage. After pressing the button, the new content of the website will appear in the new tab as part of the “Following” label and the content will be displayed in the form of a list of Cover images, titles, release times, etc.
Google officially stated that the “Follow” function supports the existing open RSS network standards. If the website does not support RSS, Chrome will fall back to the existing content indexing scheme to keep users accessing information in a timely manner.
This feature will be released in the “coming weeks” for Chrome Canary users in the US on Android. Later on, it will be pushed to Chrome Dev >> Chrome Beta >> Chrome Stable.
