We have been receiving plenty of new information about the upcoming Galaxy S21 series smartphones such as video teaser, launch date, and expected colors. According to the latest information, one of the smartphones among the three models has received FCC certification in the US.

As the certification suggests, the smartphone with model number SM-G991U and SM-G991U1 have been granted FCC certification in the US. The model number says it’s the Galaxy S21, the lower-end variant of the lineup. The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) certification is required in the US before launching any device with radio technologies.

The FCC certification makes it clear that the Galaxy S21 series will also have Snapdragon 888 processor other than the Exynos variant in some markets. As mentioned in the certificate about the chipset, the model runs SD-8350, which is a codename for the Snapdragon 888 processor.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Dummy

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge phone’s key features and specs have been allegedly revealed in the new leak. A well-known leaker shared an image that appears like a part of Samsung’s official press release or product description.

The leaked image reveals key features of Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, ranging from design and camera to performance and software. Samsung is expected to introduce the slim flagship smartphone next month, with a US release likely in late May.

The Galaxy S25 Edge would be quite sleek at 5.8mm, plus lightweight profile at 163 grams. The phone will use Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for display protection, while the middle-frame will be made of Titanium.

In terms of optics, the device could feature a 200-megapixel primary camera. The secondary camera could feature an ultrawwide sensor of either 12-megapixel or 50-megapixel resolution, as well as a 12-megapixel front camera.

Under the hood, the smartphone uses Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The SoC will be paired with 12GB RAM, with storage variants expected to be 256GB and 512GB. Samsung will debut One UI 7, powered by Android 15, with Galaxy AI features.

Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy S25 Edge on May 13 in South Korea. Pre-orders may start from May 14 and last a week before the shipments start on May 23. The device is likely to hit the US and Global shelves on May 30 this year.

Apple iPhone 17 may close the gap with Galaxy S25, 12GB RAM likely

Apple iPhone 16 Pro

Apple is reportedly considering bringing 12GB RAM to the upcoming iPhone 17 models, which would ultimately match Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series. Notably, the deal concerned isn’t done yet, as the adoption depends on the supply chain.

Samsung launched the 16GB Galaxy S25 Ultra exclusively for certain markets, but Global units pack 12GB RAM across the lineup; Apple is trying to catch up to the Galaxy S25 series with its iPhone 17 series coming in the second half.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple would be using 12GB RAM in at least three iPhone 17 models. The company also wants a RAM upgrade in the vanilla model, but “potential supply shortages remain a concern.”

If the iPhone 17 misses out on a RAM upgrade this year, it will be inevitable in the iPhone 18 series. Kuo claims that the entire iPhone 18 lineup is expected to be equipped with 12GB of RAM, continuing the push coming this year.

The latest iPhone 16, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max models come with 8GB of RAM. As Apple is debuting AI features in collaboration with OpenAI, there’s indeed a requirement for more RAM to handle the execution and on-device processing.

Larger RAM ensures seamless functionality across the OS. It would surely bring a performance jump to the iPhone 17 models. Integrated with Apple’s chipset, the new iPhones will give tough competition to Android rivals, including the S25 series.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7 FE have been listed on a telecom site’s eSIM support list. The listing reveals a major change that would help the firm as well as consumers identify the device by model number.

Samsung has simplified the model number strategy with its upcoming foldable phones. The confusing model numbers will no longer be continued after the existing models, which indicates a generation gap between the latest models.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Fold7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 will bear model number F766x, while the Z Fold7 will carry F966x. Samsung has brought the Galaxy Z Flip7 equivalent to this year’s Fold model in terms of model numbers.

After previous leaks, the alteration in model number has been solidified by telecom site Vini. Both devices have been spotted on the eSIM compatibility chart for various countries, including the US.

Vini has also listed Samsung’s SM-F761x model number, referring to the affordable Galaxy Z Flip phone. The phone’s marketing name has been mentioned as Galaxy Z Flip Xe, which was previously updated by Samsung.

Last December, the Galaxy Z Flip Xe was spotted on the GSMA IMEI database. The company may have intentionally done it to confuse netizens, as the listing was quietly replaced with “Galaxy Z Flip7 FE” in early March this year.
