Samsung Galaxy S24: The First AI Phone Ready to Blow Your Mind
Samsung will hold the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, USA on January 17, 2024. The company will introduce the Galaxy S24 series, its first AI Phone, equipped with Galaxy AI, powered by Samsung Gauss LLM.
Samsung announced its “On-device AI” strategy by unveiling Gauss LLM at the “AI Forum” in November last year. The Galaxy S24 lineup is expected to expand its own AI experience by installing multiple generative AI models.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Samsung’s Exynos 2400 SoC, which are expected to be equipped with the Galaxy S24 series, also have on-device AI as a key feature.
Market research firm Counterpoint Research predicts that shipments of generative AI smartphones will reach 522 million units by 2027, accounting for 40% of all smartphones.
It is expected to account for 4% of total shipments this year and grow at an average annual rate of 83%. It is predicted that cumulative shipments of generative AI smartphones will exceed 1 billion units from this year to 2027.
Canalys, another market research company, predicted that the global smartphone market will rebound and grow by 4% in the new year. Among these, the proportion of products with AI functions is expected to be 5%.
Apple is also expected to release an AI phone within the year. The company has recently developed an open source-based multimodal LLM “Ferret” with researchers at Columbia University and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
Ferret, which specializes in image analysis and answers, is likely to be integrated into Apple products and services in the future, and HUGS technology, which creates 3D avatars, is also planned to be applied to the iPhone.
Google has introduced its self-developed next-generation LLM ‘Gemini Nano’ to the smartphone ‘Pixel 8 Pro’. Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have also begun releasing AI phones.
Samsung acknowledges a current issue affecting the Sound Assistant‘s volume panel with One UI 6.1. Users expect a vertical volume panel that shows volumes for each app, similar to the models that haven’t received the One UI 6.1 model. This issue mainly affects the Galaxy S21 series after the One UI 6.1 update.
A Galaxy S21 Ultra user reported that the smartphone only offers a basic horizontal volume panel, lacking app-specific volume control. This function works well on Galaxy S10.
This problem seems to arise when users attempt to adjust the volume with the screen turned off. In such cases, the device defaults to the basic volume panel.
Samsung is aware of the Volume Panel issue after the One UI 6.1 update and promises to resolve it in future updates. The company apologizes for the inconvenience and assures users to improve their experience.
For a temporary solution, Samsung’s community moderator advises avoiding volume adjustment while the screen is off.
If the issue continues, users should report it by sending a log through the Samsung Members app’s ‘Send Error’ feature. This information will help Samsung in identifying and fixing the problem.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series may support 15W fast charging speed. The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic support 10W charging speed. It looks like the company is bringing a major upgrade to the next iteration of its Galaxy smartwatch in terms of charging speed.
FCC listing of Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 reveals 15W fast charging support. This upgrade will roughly increase the charging speed by 50% compared to the Galaxy Watch 6 series. However, the Watch FE (Watch 4 2024) would feature just 5W charging speed.
It has been revealed that the Galaxy Watch 7 (SM-L305) supports 15W (5V x 3A) fast charging. As the Galaxy Watch 6 takes about 90 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%, the Galaxy Watch 7 should be charged from 0% to 100% in about an hour.
Charging speed always remains a big concern in Samsung’s Mobile business. The company still sticks with 45W fast charging in flagship phones. At the same time, Chinese Android manufacturers have introduced much faster charging technologies.
This year, Samsung may launch three variants of the Galaxy Watch 7 series. The smartwatches will likely debut Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch operating system. The developer preview of the Wear OS 5 has just begun by Google, with Stable update likely to release later this year.

Samsung has released the Internet Browser Beta v26 update for its Galaxy devices. The update is available on the Galaxy Store with version 26.0.0.33 and an updated package size of 139.77MB.
This latest update addresses several issues identified in the previous beta version to enhance the app’s stability. While the specifics of the new features are not disclosed, they are expected to contribute to a more efficient and secure browsing experience.
The beta version of the update allows Samsung to gather user feedback, which is essential for the development and enhancement of the browser. After testing features in the Beta version, the company releases them to the Internet Browser app.
To install the Samsung Internet Browser Beta v26 update, you just need to open Galaxy Store >> Menu option >> Updates. Alternatively, you can download it directly from the third-party source link mentioned here.
